Apparently if you follow the instructions Venus Fly Traps are easy to grow. At least this type of Fly Trap....

Good lighting, distilled water and spiders in my case. Quite a bit of new growth with more on the way....The new growth leaves are shorter because the light is more intense.

The Venus Fly Trap went dormant over the winter. now that spring is on the way the plant is starting to grow again... Looks like it should be transplanted.

I found this page in google.

    http://www.flytrapcare.com/media-soi...fly-traps.html

Occasionally over the winter I would spot a spider in the house..

    common house spider

You can usually catch them and feed them to the plant.

After a few days the trap opens up and is ready for another bug.

We had one that did great all summer, I let it go dormant over the winter, but I don't have anything close to what you have. Holy cow!

Have you been feeding it bugs over the winter? Every so often if I found a spider I would feed an open trap.

I should cut the flower stalks off. I don't really want seeds and the stalk uses a lot of energy that the plant stored up.

Each of these flower stalks can become another plant

    venus flytrap

    Looks simple enough.
Cloning flytraps at home (non-TC vegetative propagation)

That site recommends 1:1 mixture of Peat Moss and Perlite...

These were both available at Clinton and French...

    $4.99 + $6.49

    venus flytrap

1:1 means an even mixture of both...

    venus flytrap

Mixed it up before wetting it down.

    venus flytrap

Used about a 1/3 of a gallon of distilled water. Filled six small pots but didn't pack the soil at all. Left it loose.

    venus flytrap

Snipped the flower stalks off as that site said to.

    venus flytrap

They recommended rooting compound. I have had the same container for years...

    venus flytrap

You just dip the end of the cut part of the stalk...

    venus flytrap

I put each stalk in about a 1/2" deep. The pots are sitting in at food tray that came from Wegman's filled with distilled water to keep the soil moist.

    venus flytrap

In a day or two re-pot the rest of the plant. I think there are 3 separate plants now..

You can see how there was basically 1 plant in the pot.

    Venus fly trap

Now it looks like there is at least 3 plants that can go into their own pots.
