So what would be best for Buffalo? Mayor Brown seems flat as Mayors go... There is like no energy there....It is like having an empty suit as a figure head.

I think Buffalo needs a cheerleader. A real cheerleader. I'm gonna be frank now. No one has impressed me that Lenny has endorsed... or any other party for that matter.. There was talk that Frank Max would take Lenny's place? Who the hell would even entertain that thought.
So who will we have to pick from? Personally I don't give a rat's ass about ether the democratic or republican party anymore. One party is self serving and the other is inept if they can't market a product against Mark Poloncarz...

That is why you hire a city manager. The CC members get to play politics in the sandbox and the city manager does the work. Even better...a small group of people can control who gets elected to the council. For example..not many union members like cops or fire who live on the east or west side of town.

Whether you like him or not he would be better than most anyone the democratic party would put forward... They will only put someone that would benefit the local democratic party and jobs they can grab hold of.... screw the kids in our community...I'm not saying he would be the best choice either but better than most...

Local democrat party gave us Mark...
Poloncarz, Legislature at odds over way to pay for lawsuit settlementGo read the full story in Buffalo's #1 News paper.Updated: January 11, 2012, 6:28 AM
Erie County lawmakers disagree over how to pay a $7 million legal settlement for a woman who was brain-damaged after she nearly drowned in a public pool in 2009.
County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz wants the county to borrow the money. Republicans in the County Legislature want the county to pay at least a portion of the settlement directly.
“We just feel that if you pay cash for that, we don’t have to pay the interest,” said Legislature Minority Leader John J. Mills.
The county in December agreed to settle a personal-injury lawsuit that alleged the county failed to properly train or supervise lifeguards working at a West Side Buffalo pool in August 2009 when Jannette Morales, then 37, nearly drowned. The county at the time operated the city-owned pool.
Lawmakers, however, can’t agree how to pay the settlement.
$7 million legal settlement
No it doesn't. Not if you have the cash. $7 million is a drop in bucket in a billion dollar budget. 900,000 or so people in erie county. That is about $7.77 a person and be done with it. Why even waste time on this? Wasn't our sales tax up this year?A Poloncarz aide, however, told legislators last week that low interest rates make borrowing an attractive alternative.
Plus
The Republicans contend that between a projected year end surplus for 2011 of about $26 million and another $83 million in the county’s undesignated fund balance, the county has enough cash to pay at least a portion of the settlement now.Nope.A Poloncarz aide, however, told legislators last week that low interest rates make borrowing an attractive alternative.
“We believe a more cautious approach is necessary,” said Mark Cornell, Poloncarz’s director of policy and communications.
Why are we as a community paying for this? Why are the people who weren't paying attention liable?According to court documents, Morales was found, facedown, by her son as they swam in the city’s Rees Street pool in August 2009. Lifeguards on duty, court documents alleged, were inattentive, talking or texting on cellphones that afternoon, and they never realized Morales was in trouble. It was her son who pulled her from the pool and began CPR.
I want anyone who reads this to remember this election time. This is what the democratic party endorses.

Yep. That is usually how borrowing worksKudos to Mr. Mills. You have an expense, pay it if you can. Government has no business routinely borrowing, kicking the obligation cost down the road.
The expense has been incumbered. Borrowing will only increase that expense by the interest amount. It is doubtful if the County, during those intervening five years until the bond is paid off, will make more interest on having this money retained than they will spend on interest payed out.
Pay our bills Mr. Polencarz.
