    Tax and SPEND??

As a registered democrat, I've had some mostly good-natured, sometimes nasty, debates/arguments with a very good friend of mine who is a die-hard republican/conservative.

He has always labeled me with that good old "Tax and Spend" moniker.

Well, "Tax and Spend" seems pretty attractive right now. Instead, our gov't has adopted a new policy of "taxing, without the spending".

How the heck does anyone justify this?

You must not have heard the first syllable of the third word. As another conservative republican I believe he was saying "tax and OVERspend" The democrats have not practiced tax and spend since they learned the words deficit and bonds!

No, I was listening very carefully. The third word clearly had just one syllable - spend.

I still think "tax and spend' has a better ring to it than "tax and cut"

I've come to the conclusion that the starter of this thread has no clue what Erie County's fiscal problems have been created by.

It's called OVERtax and then hire your entire family so it looks like you really need the money.

It's also called 40% higher medicaid costs than the next highest state.

So is Joel and Swanick, they just wear the republican label when it fits (which it has not been very often the last 4-5 years)

Yes, but if I recall correctly, Joel was supported by the Republicans as recently as the last election.
He's like a hot potato - I don't want him, you don't want him. But the point is that he's a member of your party now.
