    Amherst Residents Betrayed Again

The politicians and a developer have once again lied to the Amherst residents.
The University Park, aka Towne Center, aka strip mall, aka Gun Club on Maple Road has added a 4-story parking ramp and a 1,960 seat theater to their proposal, according to the News.

Didn't the residents predict that once the General Business rezone was granted, the developer, in cahoots with some board members could and would change their plans to build whatever they wanted on the property?
The residents' safety and wishes be damned. All the propaganda
of a walkable, livable community with quaint specialty shops was a ploy,
presented to many uninformed people in our community for the purpose of getting a GB rezone.

Hopefully, everyone will wake up to the deceptiveness being perpetrated on
our citizens by our local government.

Stay tuned for the next episode of unbridled greed in politics.

Is this something that can be brought up at the next town hall meeting?

It certainly can. Let our Town officials know that we are sick and tired of their misguided policies that benefit a select few at the cost and detriment of
    the many.

    Is it True?

Is it true that all we are getting is a ramp parking lot and a new movie multiplex? Is the linear park and the mixed use of office, residential and retail now totally off the table? Is the remediation still going to be done?

The original plan introduced as site remediation plus a new linear park, along with the mixed use office, residential and retail was a great deal for all residents (except the immediate neighbors).

Park? You mean the median between the road and parking lot?

Why don't they instead consider building a new "lifestyle center" somewhere in one of the many abandoned or mostly vacant plazas on Sheridan Drive?

The TJ Maxx plaza will be mostly empty soon after Old Navy leaves... I predict that Circuit City and the rest of 'em will follow.
I'm just here to make people laugh. And to confuse people. Oh, and to irritate people.

    Linear Park

From press reports, I was under the impression that (the glorified median) linear park was to have a series of new shrubs, new trees, new wide sidewalks and plenty of sitting benches - the general theme being that it would have a park feel (but in reality these probably are glorified wider medians). Nonetheless, the linear park is a big part of what convinced me that the project was a plus to all residents (except the immediate neighbors).

Is someone willing to post here what the plan changes actually are?

Another multi-movie theater complex. Very unique. Very upscale. Very walkable. Very sad comment on the greed of 4 of our Town Board members.

Is it going to be a quaint 1900+ seat movie theater complex and an upscale 4-level parking ramp - or an upscale 1900+ seat movie theater complex and quaint 4-level parking ramp?

Now that he has been allowed the GB zoning designation, this is probably only the beginning of what Benderson is going attempt to cram onto the site.

    Linear Park = Sick Joke

Go to the Gun Club site with someone else during morning or evening traffic. Stand 50 feet from the road. Stand 3 feet apart and try to have a normal conversation without yelling over the road noise.

Now imagine all of the additional traffic from this project and the 4 commercial driveways cutting through this proposed "park."

Only then will you be able to comprehend what a sick joke Benderson played on the public when promoting this.

Anyone paying attention at the time knew it was only placed there as a legal stunt to circumvent the super majority vote.

When are you guys going to catch on to Bendersen? He does nothing unless it means 98% to his advantage. And he's rich! Came from picking up cans and bottles for their deposits to billionaire! By warehousing whole tracts of commercial buildings in Buffalo and then using them as a tax writeoff.

Now NY has put him up on a pedestal because he has money and can build and they'll do anything to please him. But the man has no heart or no tender special feelings for Buffalo, where he made his first big money, and where he lived and raised a family.

Reminds me of Phil Schwab, who scammed and scammed and scammed the same people over and over, because they kept hoping they'd get some of their money back. Anybody remember him?

What? You were swayed with a strip of grass? That's a plus that outweighed all the negatives for you?

AND your the one who constantly harps about Hayes I believe over and over and over?

You are NOT allowed to make community decisions anymore if all it took was a strip of grass to make you happy
