    How Can It Be???

How is it that this gem hasn't been commented on here in over a day since it broke?

Alaska Senator accused of receiving $250K in gifts, services from company

Gov'tchick? ILoved? Lacks? bLowHardy? Where are all of you faithful stalwarts against corruption and fraud?

Oh, wait....it's a REPUBLICAN that's in trouble. Not worth commenting on, I suppose...

Perhaps you should read more than just headlines of the story. He's accused of not fully disclosing gifts received from the contractor. The gifts themselves aren't the legal issue here, although it's a reflection of his character I suppose. I'm willing to bet $250k in perks is a drop in the bucket for any senator, especially one who's been in office since 1968.

Really, it's not big news. The only reason it's gone anywhere on the internet is because he's the 'tubes' guy.

I'll wait until the charges have been proven in court.
Just like we are waiting for the court case on William "Cold Cash" Jefferson

Oh, good...explain it away with "it's not that much in the scheme of things." Stevens is the first Senator indicted in 2 decades. It may just be a little more serious than your garden variety "side deal."

ILoved...since when have you been interested in legal proof in what you say or write? (for the record, Willie Jeff is guilty as sin, and we all know it).

Lobbyism in all forms (including 'gifts') should be illegal.

I think that it could be one of the most important changes that could be brought about in order to make things within the american political system better.

    Liberals Love to Bash Republicans

Run4it how love to bash Republicans for alleged crimes. You can't even wait untill they are proven guilty. The senator from Alaska has not been convected of anything yet. How quick you forget the crooked Democrats who are or have been in office. Have you forgotten the alleged crimes against the Clinton's or the conviction of House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dan Rostenkowski (D-IL).
When will America wake up to what Obama is doing to this country?

I'm not republican, just wondering, is $250K all that much nowadays? 1 million isn't anymore and $250,000 is far less. Not that I would refuse $250K, just wondering out loud in a message posting sorta way.

Now all we need is for someone to say "Conservatives Love To Bash Democrats".

The two of you can repeatedly scream this at each other until you run out of breath, turn blue and pass out.

I hope you both have headaches when you wake up.

Why God!? Why!? When will they learn that neither of these parties believes in anything anymore, yet they profess their loyalty and follow them blindly like lemmings going over the cliff!? Why!?

That's because the Senate has been Republican dominated for three decades. If you want to find indicted crooks you'll have to look to the House Democrats like Jim Traficant and William Jefferson for starters. Actually it's a pretty long list. There's a reason why nearly every mob boss and trade union racketeer since Roosevelt has hand their hand in a Democrat's pocket.

Are the many millions of dollars Obama got for his greedy contractor friends in Chicago important to you?

Democrats - the party of queers, trade union racketeers, and organized crime mobsters, and which still buys the black vote for five bucks a head in urban areas. There's a reason we have the term "Chicago Style Election" and we owe it all to Democrats. I dare you to go into a courthouse anywhere in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, or Jersey and try to get a job sweeping floors if you're not a registered Democrat. For Democrats it's all about getting themselves into a position to take bribes. We've got bad Republicans too, but at least your chances are still somewhat better with them. I can at least name a handful of good people who are Republican politicians. I don't know of any good Democrats. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I sure can't think of a single one that doesn't have dirt on him/her.

That was awesome. It's amazing in this day and age that anyone can stick up for politicians and political parties so vehemently.

    I'm impressed.

lierd6109, they all have dirt on them, they're politicians. The sad thing is that only some of them get caught.

You're daft. First you complain that Stevens "hasn't even been proven guilty." Then you complain about the "alleged crimes against (of) the Clintons". Guess who was never even INDICTED for any of those "crimes"? That's right, the Clintons. Guess who WAS the first Senator to be indicted in 25 years? That's right! Stevens.

I do believe, Lacks, that you were one of the ones to pile on William Jefferson. He still hasn't been convicted of anything. Which of these words do you wish to eat, Mr. Lackawanna?

My point wasn't that the Democrats are perfect. My point was (and you're doing a wonderful job of illustrating it) that many of you (especially you, Lacks) love to point out Democrats who have problems, but somehow keep mum, or do a great job of explaining away, Republican misdoings.

I could care less if Stevens got free home improvement. He's an idiot for doing it in a way that was blatant enough to be the first Senator charged in 25 years...but that's his bag. What I could care about is those of you who only want to shout about corruption when it's done by the other "team."

Now try finding individual republicans and democrats involved in sex crimes or adultry rather than 1700000 hits for the same small handfull of Republicans. When a Republican gets caught it's big news because it doesn't happen often, and it automatically generates a ton of web pages. In case you hadn't noticed, goofballs rule the idiotnet. Try googling "space aliens", "conspircay theory", "Mystical Kabala", or "New World Order" and you'll find a gazillion web pages about them, 90% of which were written by some 40 year old Democrat with mental problems living in his mom's basement.
