I was told that if the proposed down sizing of the two Town Board seats makes it to this years ballot and passes, there will not be an election for WS Town Board seats next year(2009). As I am told the seats that Graber And Bove hold will simply be eliminated starting in Jan. of 2010. On the following election year of 2011, when Meegan and Clarke are up, there will be one Council position with a term of 4 years and the other with only a term of 2 years, in order to seperate the election years once again.

I found this to be of interest and figured I would pass it along.

If this is true -Why does Bove and Graber lose their positions and not Meegan and Clarke? How does only one seat stay in place and who decides what seat goes up in 2011?

Personally, I believe everyone should resign and have a new election.

That is what the law provides for. If the board is reduced by two seats both Bove and Graber will have no seat to run for. Then when Clarke and Meegan are up for relection there will only be one seat with a four year term and one seat with a two year term. The bigger question is if it is reduced who would be vying for the two year seat?

    Town law section 87(3) provides:

Whenever a proposition shall have been adopted in a town of the
first class to reduce the number of councilmen from four to two, no town
councilmen shall be elected at the first biennial town election held at
least one hundred fifty days after the adoption of such proposition.
Party nominations for town councilmen may be made and designating
petitions filed and two town councilmen shall be elected at the biennial
town election next succeeding the biennial town election at which no
town councilmen are elected, one for a term of two years and one for a
term of four years and thereafter at each biennial town election in such
town there shall be elected one town councilman for a term of four
years, in the same manner as other elective town officers in such town.
The term of office of each such councilman shall begin on the first day
of January next succeeding the election at which he was elected.

Oh well...that's how the cookie crumbles.

Like him or not, Wally is much smarter than people give him credit for.
A remark should only hurt within it's proportion of what is true.

Don't you mean that Steve Pigeon is much smarter than people give him credit for?

West Seneca makes Amherst look almost intelligent. That Bovine broad now she is a real leader.

    9. Democrats, Wallace is only working with Chris Walsh (80 this week) & Pigeon.
Steven Pigeon and Chris Walsh were mentioned back in May as being Wally's brains.

They range from the dozens of City Hall workers who collected signatures for her nominating petitions to the involvement of G. Steven Pigeon, a Golisano confidant who has re-established close ties to Brown and Casey...
“People don’t want to be dominated anymore,” said Leonard R. Lenihan, chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party. “People want Byron as mayor, but they don’t want him running the Common Council or the Democratic Party.”[Oh Really]...
But Casey, the mayor's chief strategist, insists the target is Lenihan, not Hoyt.
"This has nothing to do with Hoyt and Brown," Casey said. "This is really about the county chairman."
The tie in here folks is it is not for Wally to control the town of West Seneca, it is for Steven Pigeon to control the town of West Seneca. Pigeon is making deals with Brown and Piotrowski to deliver him the Democratic Party Chairmanship, once Lenihan is unseated. Once delivered, Pigeon will deliver to Piotrowski his judgeship, and Pigeon will make sure West Seneca is well milked, I mean taken care of. The only hickup here might be if Casey also wants to be chairman.
