I'm somewhat ashamed to say that I haven't tried Ikes yet. I have a business card with his mug thumbtacked into my office wall to remind me to stop by. I'm in that area several times a week, so there is no excuse for my lack of patronage.

My personal favorite is Suzy-Q's due to their consistency. The disadvantage is that I have to plan my lunch at Suzy's around a stop at the bank because they don't take credit cards.

Buffalo BBQ & Brew was good for about five minutes. Their sauce is the best I've found in this area, but the constant turnover in kitchen staff has really effected their ability to be consistent.

The Viking Lobster Company also serves very good ribs, but you probably wouldn't expect that, or know about the ribs due to their limited hours and seafood niche. I'd say they are one of the most overlooked restaurants in Buffalo. The BYOB policy is a certainly a plus!

One-Eyed Jacks in Lockport is also very good, especially if you want to catch a Bills or Sabres game while gnawing on some bone.

Another place that will do if you are in a pinch is the roadhouse beside the BJ's plaza on Colvin/Young. They have very good ribs and steaks for a chain restaurant, but not in the same league as the local mom/pop joints.

There's a Jamaican joint on the corner of Amherst and Elmwood that serves ribs too. The first and last time I went there they served me the beef ribs instead of the pork (asked for the pork, but the waitress was a closet idiot). The beef ribs are pretty bad, and a complete rip-off for the price. The serving size of the beef ribs will remind you of the intro to the Flintstones where Fred's car falls over. Unfortunately, size isn't everything. They are mostly bone and the meat isn't very tasty, nor is the seasoning.

If you are in the Lewiston/Youngstown area, be sure to stop by the place that might still be named the Brickyard. I think they changed their name, but I can't remember. All-around quality food there.
Most of all I like bulldozers and dirt

I was in the 14219 zip code today, so I went to justbecuz's recommended rib place. The rib meat was some of the most tender I've ever had. The sauce was average. Kind of pricey at $9.30 (including tax) for two ribs and a 1/4 chicken.
