I just PUKED!
Looks like former Lackawanna Mayor Norm Polanski (D) will announce for Mark Schroeder's Assembly seat. Polanski is looking for the endorsement over Higgins operative Chris Fahey.
Please Polanski is not a good choice! For the love of god look around people!
I just PUKED!
How about Mickey Kearns he'd beat this Polanski senseless. Besides he isn't connected to either group.
he did get a few windmills for lackawanna. what else has the mayor done for lackawanna?
he did get some roads paved this year. he did get the bond passed to repair the firehalls. he did manage to raise property taxes this year. his main claim to fame is getting the railroad crossings fixed on martin road. it only took him, how many years to notice it?
i wonder why south park wasn't upgraded into lackawanna, it was stopped at the buffalo/lackawanna line. wasn't the funding for that raised by congressman higgins? why didn't he continue further?
A lot of the South Buffalo streetscape had to do with Tim Kennedy as a County Legislator too.
Good question.....Why did the beautification/revitalization of South Park stop at the Lackawanna City Line is a perfect question for them! Lord knows it should have been done many, many years ago!
I know they always doted on their savior Stahowski to bail them out of everything but now.......are they working hard with.....who? Let' do their work for them and make some phone calls/e-mails to the higher-ups who represent The City of Lackawanna!

A few thoughts to ponder.....
....why???? hasn't the current public servants been instituting programs all along to receive funding from government grants? ...and maybe work along side the City of Buffalo to coordinate improvements? (comes to mind when Willet Road gets paved...one year the Blasdell side is paved, another year the Lackawanna side is paved, why can't municipalities coordinate?)
....Why???? aren't there functioning Block Clubs in Lackawanna. This isn't a "new thing". The council members should be having small community meetings, getting the people together in each neighborhood. At these meetings they should answer questions and receive feedback from the public as to how to improve their neighborhoods. THEN...ACT ON THEM and follow up with the community.
If this isn't on board now (and it is not a new concept) why would you consider that these same "public servants" would practice this style of "Public Servatude" in the future?
Being a PUBLIC SERVANT is a full time job, if you can't do it full time and put your heart and sole in it....leave it for someone who can and will.

I found this article while searching for facts regarding private and public employee work ethics. Lots of us have worked in both areas and understand there is good and poor workmanship across the board, but.........
Some-Many government office workers have a nasty attitude when dealing with Joe and Jane Public. Because "their connection" put them into a job as a campaign reward they have a protected mindset, along with Civil Service protection. They should have been moved early on to a more fitting position but many bosses working in government positions are weenies too. Hence an unmotivated work-force who spends more time gossiping than working. There are dedicated workers who remember where they came from and do a great job. Thank You.
Code of Ethics for U.S. Government Service
Adopted July 11, 1958
Resolved by the House of Representatives {the Senate concurring}, That it is the sense of the Congress that the following Code of Ethics should be adhered to by all Government employees, including officeholders.
CODE OF ETHICS FOR GOVERNMENT SERVICE
Any person in Government service should:
1. Put loyalty to the highest moral principals and to country above loyalty to Government persons, party, or department.
2. Uphold the Constitution, laws, and legal regulations of the United States and of all governments therein and never be a party to their evasion.
3. Give of his duties his earnest effort and best thought.a full day's labor for a full day's pay; giving to the performance
4. Seek to find and employ more efficient and economical ways of getting tasks accomplished.
5. Never discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors or privileges to anyone, whether for remuneration or not; and never accept for himself or his family, favors or benefits under circumstances which might be construed by reasonable persons as influencing the performance of his governmental duties.
6. Make no private promises of any kind binding upon the duties of office, since a Government employee has no private word which can be binding on public duty.
7. Engage in no business with the Government, either directly or indirectly which is inconsistent with the conscientious performance of his governmental duties.
8. Never use any information coming to him confidentially in the performance of governmental duties as a means for making private profit.
9. Expose corruption wherever discovered.
10. Uphold these principles, ever conscious that public office is a public trust.
Doing the right thing can be a lot of work and the mindset in Lackawanna has been to just do the bare minimum---rig-it-along---and leave it alone until we get caught because it is too far gone and we are forced to act. Always at a higher cost too because they have to pay mega consulting fees and hire out the job. If they had a proactive/strict maintenance mindset our City would be aesthetically correct, have safe buildings, and be on the ball. If employees were hired for their skills instead of a "family and Friend" payback favor we could do much more in-house projects too. We have trickle down leadership. It was sad to see the Fireman begging the Council for money to make our Fire Stations safe to occupy!
Go drive behind City Hall and in the middle of the building look up----why hasn't Code Enforcement cited the CEO? Because they cover for each other and take their marching orders from the top.
Our City leadership has a M-F 9-4:30 mindset as if everything stops on the weekend---the only time you see them anywhere around town as a rule is in an election year.
They also have a pass the buck mentality and if anyone falls for their lies ---don't.
We have tried to get Block Clubs going since 1989, appr. 2000 and we were going fairly well in 2006-09 but pooped out again. Citizens are extremely interested in the strength of neighborhood watch, etc. but they take time and sacrifice on every one's part to keep going.
A group of us go to the monthly meetings in Buffalo and sadly they are filled with a majority of Seniors. This is great but we need young folks to compliment but they are at the point where running Susie to dancing is more important.
We understand, and this is happening in many groups because Seniors have more leisure time to get and stay involved. Buffalo Block Clubs often hold yearly street parties and really try to help and get to know their neighbors.
Maybe if City Leaders got involved like Byron Brown does things would consolidate. Something has to give, you are right on Daisey-Mae.
