Well, Lets not be surprised if the current Mayor of Lackawanna Mr Polanski uses this appointment as a way to begin networking into the Hamburg Democratic vote for a future run at a "bigger" position.
The people of Lackawanna had the oppurtunity to end the years of abuse, political patronage, politics as usual, and settlement of the status quo. The recent election (Nov'07) put the mayor, council president, and fourth ward councilman up for election.Originally Posted by PAC police
And what happened: the mayor was re-elected in the primary, Chuck Jaworski who already sits on the city council (which has done nothing) was elected to the council presidents seat, and Joe Schiavi who works full time in the schools was re-elected as a rubber stamp to fourth ward council seat.
Annette Iafallo, John kuryak, Keith Lewis, and Paul Gorczyca were all better qualified than the people that were re-elected. No one, now, has the right to complain about the way Lackawanna is being run except those who got out to vote and casted a vote for change!
And I agree that the democrats have a hugh stronghold that cannot be broken unless people open their eyes and stop voting party line!

What's the latest on Sorrentino and the Lackawanna Housing Authority? Did he get the appointment? What's new with the politics now that the elections are over?
[Yes its true. Good luck, They kicked Sorrentino out of everything else. Why not corrput Lackawanna where the corrput hide and work. now not all are corrupt here. They should leave the police and fire fighter alone and not intimidate them. Let them do their jobs and pay them well.
QUOTE=mikewrona]Ok, I've heard that former Democratic Party Chairman Vincent Sorrentino of Hamburg is going to be appointed Counsel for the Lackawanna Municipal Housing Authority.
I know there is at least one lawyer in Lackawanna who could do the job, because my mother's will was drawn up by one.
If true, what's the deal with going to an outsider?
Say it isn't so.[/QUOTE]
