Worker, if you review the budget proposal that was just passed, you will see O"Neil is somehow slated for a 4.4% increase. Your contract, as I understand, calls for a 3% increase. In the budget for 2007, the position was listed at $58,174.00. The 2008 figure is $60,859.00, or a $2,685.00 increase in pay. The Asst. Dog Control Officer position only reflects a 2% increase, or an increase of $1,117.00 from $54,493.00 to $55,610.00. If you respect Al as much as you say, perhaps you might point this out to him, or bring it to the attention of your Union. Now, given Mr. Koller's lame explanation of the budget, he may have attempted to calculate O/T into the equation. However, I would find that difficult to believe, since the Town's payroll records indicate Mr. O"Neil made in the neighborhood of $80,000.00 last year with his over-time.
I know you're not in a position to really make waves, but you might bring this to the attention of your representatives and fellow workers. If the reps are not helpful, contact the CSEA directly.
