    On urine-soaked casino seats...

    http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/...=2007708200384

Floyd Kibiloski was playing video poker at the Caesars Indiana casino last month when he decided to try his luck at the machine next to him -- and got an embarrassing surprise.

Kibiloski, a Fern Creek, Ky., computer consultant, sat in a chair soaked with urine, apparently left there by a woman who had been playing at that slot machine moments earlier. It was dripping off his shorts and down his leg.

The kind of problem Kibiloski faced, while it doesn't occur every day, is not uncommon at casinos where aging patrons may suffer from incontinence or are unwilling to take a break when they're hoping to win a big jackpot, say researchers and counselors who work with problem gamblers.

Compulsive gamblers sometimes wear adult diapers to avoid having to leave a slot machine or gaming table where they expect a payoff, the experts say.

If they don't come prepared, they sometimes "just pee in the seat," said Arnie Wexler, a recovered gambling addict who operates a gambling hot line and counseling service in New Jersey. "It's not something the industry really likes to talk about."

Pulling that lever like a trained chimp, all in the name of greed and misguided hope of that big payout. Hooray for the casinos, for they have created a machine that overrides the autonomic nervous system.

Gives a whole new meaning to getting soaked.

A gaming industry insider confirms this is a common occurrence.

This is another reason to avoid casinos.

    I agree. That's disgusting.
I'm just here to make people laugh. And to confuse people. Oh, and to irritate people.

This brings up a type of Elder Abuse, which the article failed to address. Instead of placing a senior citizen in need of assistance in an Adult Day Care Center or an Assisted Living Center, family members do what's often called a "Granny Drop". They keep the retirement/social security checks for themselves instead of taking care of their elderly "loved" one. Instead of providing day care for the senior they give grandma a bag of coins, drop them off at a casino, or a mall, on the way to work, then pick them up on the way home.
I'm not saying that his is 100% of these incontinent cases, just that this is what happens in some of these cases.
Maybe the casino should reupholster the chairs with water/fluid proof fabric.

Ironic how the governor put the brakes on senior citizen bus excursions to Canada where they could purchase their life-sustaining prescriptions at 1/2 price, yet I still see busloads of seniors in public school buses being transported to the casino.

Casinos and nursing homes are god's waiting rooms.

It's very sad that our seniors don't get the respect and care they deserve.

    Well,
    1. eeeeeew
    2. They should look into some water repellent upholstery; nursing facilities use it, it's pretty durable. You know, just in case that guy wins a bundle and ****s his pants--it's all good.

    Analyze this:

    • One guy killed himself at the Seneca Niagara blackjack table, reportedly over gambling debts.
    • Another guy, distraught over $200,000 gambling debt, tried to commit suicide by going over the Falls, but he got stuck at the brink.

Could urine-saturated seats have contributed to their dispondency?

A more tragic scenario would be if the man had sat in a puddle of someone who'd consumed asparagus the day before.

Now that this dirty little secret is out, the casinos have a responsibility to the gaming public:

    • Install moisture alarms on each chair, and have a chair-replacement-emergency-response-team at the ready.
    • Issue adult diapers at the claim desk.

Why not just cut holes in the chairs and put buckets under them???

I'm no slot player expert, but I believe you are able to call an attendent over and hold that particular machine for you while you go to the restroom or go to eat something inside the casino. Then again, anyone willing to soil themselve while pumping tokens into the bandit, probably has no concept of the rules to begin with.
