After listing to Larry Hunter on WBEN today spill out his venom against Wal Mart. Larry sound like he has a personal stake in blocking Wal Mart from this area. Do you think he could have a retail store he is trying to protect?

I like lower prices, Larry must not.

Larry wants us to buy goods made in USA. That is hard to do. Go to any mall and check the labels.

I would like to have a Wal Mart in my back yard it would lower my use of gasoline.

Actually, I think he's mild compared to Bauerly (sp?) and Beach. It makes for a nice contrast.

He has had a vendeta (sp) against them for some time. He has been on the air for a few years.

He had a store in Niagara county I believe, which sold swim wear as one of its products. He would comment on it in the past.

If his company was impacted by wal mart, then all the better to hear his views. Wal Mart is just too big now. It's a near monopoly, and you want happens when a business reaches that level. Bad things.

I never shop at Wal Mart. But, because of all the controversy, I've started going to the one on Transit in Clarence to check prices against other big box stores. So far, I'm not impressed. But I've just started.....I have no doubt that it's reputation for lower prices is legitimate, but I'd like to know just how much lower we're talking about here, and whether it's worth the problems Wal Mart has caused.

I never said Wal-Mart put him out of buseiness, and there was not one close to his store.

al-Mart does not claim to have the lowest prices, but they do have low proces. Also the price of an item in one store can be different than in another. I have also found this to be true between their SAMS club and Wal-Mart.

They do have a policy, that if another place is selling it cheaper, bring in the ad, and they will seel it to you for that price.

I like it for certian items and not for others, and have been shopping at Wal-Marts for more than 20 yrs.

I don't want a walmart or any MORE big box stores that compete with what I do. I'm surprized people never look at the people who have to compete with walmart.

It's funny when the union/government people want thier "salaries/benefits" protected but go shopping at walmart. The local business people want thier business "protected" against a giant who can under cut them badly but we "business" people are the bad guys.

Thank you for saying that. It is exactly the truth. IMO, no union member should go anywhere near Wal Mart, because it is the world's largest employer and it treats its employees like....well...I won't say the word. And it is as anti-union as any company can be.


Wal Mart is a cannibal, IMO. People shop there because they can't afford to shop anywhere else ever since they lost their well-paying job at a company put out of business by Wal Mart. It makes me sad.

Agreed. You make a great argument against Wal -Mart's disease-like proliferation.

Like in "Rain Main," when Cruise says, "K-Mart sucks," the same holds for Wal-Mart:They're "affordable quality at lower prices" is pure BS.

Sad irony that Sam Walton DID run a fairly high quality chain of Wal-Mart stores until he left the management of his empire in the hands of his children.

so you believe in what he says all the time. His job is to insite you to call in on issues. Its all entertainment nothing more....that's his job, not his real beliefs.

I know that on a call in show. The radio show personality usually plays devils advocate on whatever the subject is to generate interest in todays show.

But it is the calls that are received where you can sense the public approval or disapproval of the subject in this case Wal-Mart. In our free market society If a business can't compete due to Labor/Union problems, taxes or foreign/local competition then they should close. I fell Wal-Mart is good for business and if a local business can't compete. Then they should close.

Nothing personal just like the sound business decisions in this area that were made in the past on the steel plants, grain mills and the outsourcing of the many jobs in this area. I heard only a small protest then why so much noise about Wal-Mart. Could it be that they are against unions? The last I read, for now that is a business right by law.
