    How Much Is Too Much?

In the Delta Sonic thread the discussion seemed to be straying off course to a discussion that I think might be interesting...

Is commercial development always preferable over "undeveloped" land?

    I say no.

I think that even in what are usually considered highly developed areas, an open parcel of land adds character, beauty, desirability and value to the neighborhood. Even in Amherst I've heard that commercial properties are required to have green elements... so someone must recognize the importance of non-development.

    Yes. I agree.

You want to have green space? Buy some property and then choose NOT to build something on it.

You want your town to have green space? elect representitives who plan to take taxpayer money and purchase land on the free market to NOT build on.
Data is not the plural of Anecdote.

You both gotta point. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the my tax money going to buy just green space. Green space cost the tax payer very little to maintain.
