    Wgrz, the garbage peddler

On Friday February 18, 2011 Scott Brown did a story on Channel 2, WGRZ about the Erie County Water Authority\'s 20,000 sf tenancy in the Ellicott Square. He interviewed Gunner Tronolone, an objective and respected broker in the community, who purportedly said that if the Authority were to relocate to a location in Cheektowaga it could save $85,000 per year in rent. Authority Commissioner Jack O’Donnell then stated that he was "shocked" and would seek better value elsewhere.

Me thinks mr. Scott brown and NBC doesn't like Carl too much...

Did anyone else see his coverage on flight 3407??? Did anyone catch how many times Mr. Brown said how close he lived to the crash? (even though he wasn't home when it happened).
"I know you guys enjoy reading my stuff because it all makes sense. "

Dumbest post ever! Thanks for the laugh PO!

Would Scott Brown be happy if the Elllicott Square Building were void of tenants?
I suppose he would be as long as it was hurting Carl Paladino. I don't think Scott Brown took into consideration that the Ellicott Square Building is a city jewel, kept that way, by the way, because it is an occupied city jewel.

I saw this story as a very transparent politically-motivated plot to hurt Carl through his rental agreements with the state. I suppose running for political office in this state has its repercussions. Nice of Carl to finance his own campaign; the Buffalo News said it was a "good deed." Is this the thanks he gets?

Great let's make Buffalo the vacant office space capital of the World! After we empty Paladino's crown jewel the Ellicott Square Building let's make sure the HSBC Tower is totally vacant because they can get office space cheaper in Cheektowaga also. After we get that done let's relocate the state courts and all the other offices they have to Cheektowaga,Amherst , Hamburg where ever is cheaper so we can just make the City of Buffalo one big vacant ghost town.!!!! What idiots!!!!!!!!

Plus they need to compare apples to apples and other costs to the location they compared the current lease to.

Do you think when you rent from someone like "benderson" they give you a flat rent cost or are there are "fees" on top of the rent.

Actually that would be a better plan than continuing the government supported artificial economic viability of downtown Buffalo. It would force Buffalo to rethink its "let's recreate the 1950's" attitude.

Clearly, the reasonable response to this was to issue a lengthy rant that incorporates an accusation that Scott Brown is gay - something that, if it's true, isn't widely known or anybody's business.

But if Scott Brown has a relationship with someone who is involved in the issues, should disclosure be made? If Scott Brown does have a signifiant other, regardless of sex, and that person is an adversary to Ellicott Development...that should be mentioned.

doesn't Carl have a financial relationship with the ECWA? I thought he wanted to abolish such authorities? Would he make an exception for those that rent from him?

Hey Carl, everytime you drive on the 190 I have to pay for it for you.

Carl's rants sicken me. If he had only learned to keep his mouth shut. And, he should have paid for his campaign;he took up space and sidetracked the election by being a zero for his party.
    He was an embarrassment.

I find it rather ironic that the very people who constantly gripe about taxes and/or the cost of government are among the first to defend government entities paying significantly more to rent office space in downtown than in the suburbs.

You don't know that. Don't spread rumors. Compare apples to apples and then make your comments.

You are basically saying, "don't criticize the ESB leases unless you've read the two lease proposals." That's BS. It's all right for you and others to criticize all kinds of government operations and systems, especially those involving public employees' wages and benefits, when you have only the vaguest idea of the facts in the matter, but nobody dares criticize the leases at the Ellicott Square Building?

It was stated that the ESB lease was competitive with other downtown leases. Your just complaining to complain.

I'll be honest, I don't like Paladino. I think he's equal parts politician and developer, the worst combination because he'll say anything to further his own interests in the guise of acting on behalf of the public.

Personally, the story is a lark. What kind of differential was it b/w cheektowaga and downtown, something like $50K / year (that's without any modifications). So what is that, $4K / month? Out of a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars???? Absurd. I'm sure that by negotiating a better price for chlorine they could save twice that...
