Yeah, let's pay them. That has worked out real well for our town, county, state and federal elected officials have done an amazing job for us, while earning a salary based on our tax money.....

Giving them money will also include them in the State Retirement system. The costs would be unbelievable if every school board member were paid for their service. It would also make things more political and contractors who do business with the schools could contribute to specific candidates campaigns. Creating even more conflicts of interest.

Maybe those who complain about school boards should run for a seat on the board. Seriously, at least half the people last year were unopposed. It is a thankless job in that they don't get paid, but have to deal with many questions and concerns. These people do it out of public service, unlike many PAID politicians!

I cant argue your points with you. I am just tired of the same old crap. We have to increase your taxes because it is for the children. We have to shrink the class sizes because of your children. If we are going to make it about special interest then lets make it about that. How much worse could it really be Just a thought

There are other businesses that could handle it. As has been said in the past 'It is not just impropriety but the appearance of impropriety that must be avoided.'
Want to be on the SB? Then remove your business from the running with the district. Tough choice, but so be it.

The truth of the matter is the superintedent of schools controls just about everything that goes on in the school. If he doesn't bring it to the table the board cant vote on anything. The power the board has, is only wanted he wants to give the shool board. If you have a great super you have a great school district, if not we have a district in trouble.
