    Financial Disclosures

Thanks for the link to the Board of Elections. Very insightful.

Here are some things I found out.

    1. Tom Best did indeed take a donation from 24KT. Certainly an argument can be made that this is a "rookie mistake." Here's another rookie mistake I found: Vinny Gugliuzza accepted donations from some unions and then did all of his shopping at Wal-Mart. What would the unions think about that? We'll just call that a rookie mistake as well.

    2. Dick Smith gave a $500 donation to Politicswny.net. Shortly after, this same site posted the story critical of Tom Best and Kevin Smardz. Interesting...

    3. Someone also brought up that Kevin Smardz's report is not listed. But they forgot to mention that Kesner, Cavalcoli and Connolly's reports are also not posted. Neither is the Hamburg Endorsed Candidates fund, which we all know is run by Vincent Sorrentino. Since certain people think that Smardz is not qualified to serve because his financials are not posted, do these people think the same about those listed above?

    Just some observations.

Kevin's report is listed, I just checked. Sometimes the backlog at filing time results in the reports not being put up on the web site on the filing date.

    1. All four of these guys raised less than projected but it's only July and the slates are worried more about petitions than fundraising. That's going to change.

    2. Best took money from 24 Karat Gold. That place isn't a traditional strip club anyways, because they have older folks "working there". It's a nonissue anways because who in the general public reads this message board or the Illuzzi letter with dedication?

    3. Who is watching the financial disclosure reports for off year candidates (e.g. State Assembly, State Senate, Judges, Supervisors, etc.)? Look into those. The are far more interesting.

    Wink

I'm aware Res, and only kidding.

This website is a great way for candidates to reach the public as many political leaders are learning day after day.

You and Free New York get significantly higher traffic than the Illuzzi Letter. In all fairness I hope Illuzzi gets the price he asks for his website. He put a lot of work into that over the years.

If he has realistic stats I'll buy his site if it's worth it. Market share...You know the media can shape the community if they are not focused on profits.

BOE deadlines much like bank deadlines and other such transactions automatically default to monday when the deadline falls on a weekend. A great example was this years income tax deadline...there is also a 10-day grace period...the "drop dead" date was the 11th or twelfth, which is the last day you report contributions for. feel free to check out the state boe if you don't believe me. www.elections.state.ny.us

Thanks for the link but maybe you should use it yourself.

I'm the former treasurer of the Hamburg Republican Party.
