Talking One bad smell removed- five more to go !

Because some residents cared - the Town Board was forced to act !

Partial quote from a Buffalo News article relating to bad odors in Lancaster near Erie Street:

The DEC checked on the property at the request of the Town Board and said the owner, Guenter Burkhardt, remains in compliance with DEC requirements. In response to complaints, however, environmental engineer Efrat Forget has requested that Burkhardt undertake a number of new measures to contain the odor that occasionally results from the company's mulching activities. (end quote)

As with the stray bullet problems - the bad odor issue is being acted on because some residents made it happen . Faced with legal issues such as environment and residents safety - the Board had to act . They stalled all they could . When the home owners were leaning towards legal action against the Town Board Members - The Board finally reacted . They had to , they were forced to do something because they had " Prior notice " of an unsafe condition - they themselves helped create . They have had numerous reports of unsafe gun fire throughout Lancaster for years . Easily documented through 911 calls and police responses.

They hid or ignored the compost/smell issue for years . The Supervisor even tried a lame excuse saying the " owner was afraid to rotate his compost piles because of residents concerns " - nice try !

Giza is known to take a " Gamble " once in a while - but when faced with possible legal actions and or actually being " Held partly responsible , " thats a gamble he won't risk . Now the town attorney is grand standing in the press about his almost Herculean efforts , which included looking at photos and even making a phone call to have the hunting boundaries changed .

Gee , i guess those photos didn't exist before or when all the building was approved ! I guess the Department of the DEC didn't exist before people were almost hit by stray deer slugs ! I guess , no one ever raised these issues before in Lancaster ! Its nice to see the genuine concern pouring out of our elected officials.

What next , maybe they will block a non party member or out of town developer from building something , just to show they care about sprawl .

Don't forget to kiss some babies boys - the election cycle is approaching fast!
No tax funded patronage job, not running for Office , I speak for myself.
When will voters out number tax funded employees at the polls?

That's what I love about this Message Board - people slam politicians if they don't take action, and they slam them if them if they do take action.
