Ok, I'll byte, I do not know, but if you are in a newer house you won't hear a plow.

Have you looked outside and actually seen how bad the road is?

Allso, you can always call the PD or Highway department that takes care of your road and ask them.

Just depends on how bad you want a plow down your road.

You're going to have to wait today. It is absolutely miserable out. Plows are hitting main roads and having to double back to keep them clear do to the heavy snowfall. I believe there is or will very soon be a travel ban in Hamburg. Sit at home pour a cold one (or a warm one) and enjoy the game. I just drove to Mckinley Mall and back in my 4x4 and it took 1 hour travel, this is normally 20 min tops for me. I've already got 3' of snow here.

I am not in a newer home. I just heard the plow and he packed in my driveway with at least 5 ft of snow..He backed up three times to really pack it in. I just love living on the corner .So there goes any chance of watching the game or even staying warm. I am glad I am not elderly..I would be screwed!! As for calling the Highway department..what would be the pointless..its the old boys network at it finest!!!

Take a picture and post it....I'd like to see 5' of snow.
The difference between taxes and robbery is the mode of coercion.

I know where you're coming from regarding the joy of living on a corner and "the good-ole-boy network." When I lived in Amherst I had the same exact problem. Whatever you do, DON'T let the plow operators realize it annoys you. If you do, they'll get you even worse! I know that may seem impossible, but believe me when I tell you, they WILL find more snow to bury you even deeper.

You poor soul. Not only do you get more snow, you get to pay n=more in taxes, as they go by frontage.

If you also have a sidewalk (I am lucky that I do not) you even get to keep it cleared.

Good luck, and have one for me.

You guys are hysterical. At 1:08 pm we were in the middle of the snow storm. Why would a highway super send out plows? You complain about taxes and then you want the guys to work more overtime to plow 4 or 5 times when they could plow once when it stops.

Then how much snow do you think is going to be in your driveway when they plow. We got 2 feet of snow yesterday. They take it out of the street and put it on the side.

So you want them to plow but not put any in your driveway?

    You guys are something else.

Then one of you brainiacs says that your taxes are based on frontage? What is that all about? It is based on the assessed value of your home. Wow!!

No wonder why no one listens to you guys.

My sewer taxes are based on frontage. City and town are based on assessed value. So it can be either way. Trucks do go out during the storm to keep main arteries open. You are not going to see them on side roads early on because they are not a priority. Trust me, these plow drivers are some of the highest paid employees in the town.

Let's not forget that this "old boys network" is all about trying to screw the average person at all costs. Even more so when it has snowed 2+ feet and they have been working 16 hour shifts.

Seriously people, use yer dam heads.

What does having snow in your driveway have to do with watching the game, or staying warm??

Obviously this person in question has done something to offend the plow drivers of his town, thus they are out to get him by packing his driveway with snow as they drive down the street clearing his neighborhood. The plow driver should have brought his Snow Vacuum with him to pick up all the white stuff and dispose of it somewhere else, where it wouldn't be a hindrance to anyone.

Either that or you should acknowledge the fact that you chose to live in the heart of Lake Effect snow country and with that decision comes a little bit of shoveling, and it may from time to time, hinder your chance to watch a 5 hour football game.

I made the mistake of pissing-off the"good-ole-boy network" in Amherst. The situation got so out of hand, I began monitoring their radio frequency just to prove I wasn't being paranoid. Sure as a bear sh#*s in the woods, they were talking about me! One time I woke up to a beeping sound. I ran to the window and pulled-up the sash, and what was before me, but a town plow in my driveway, having a bash! He kept backing-up, readjusting his plow and knocking my snow mound back into my driveway. Remember, I REALLY PISSED HIM OFF!! The funniest part of this story is, I wouldn't be surprised if he's still taking it out on me and I've been out of there for over two years now. te-he-he-he!

In 10's of 1,000's of communities today, including millions of people who live in very rural areas, seldom to see a snow plow - people are cold, and many have been getting snow. Throughout the whole year, how many times do most WNY'ers actually go outside and HAVE to shovel some snow? Geez... it's such an aggravation to actually get a little hard work in around the house. I guess if you have not good to say, all you CAN do is bitch. huh!

Other than the originator of this thread, I fail to see who's bitching. If you're referring to me, then my intentions are being misunderstood. I'm simply attempting to give people a chuckle with a real life story. Maybe you'd have to be there to really appreciate the true humor of it all. You know, grown men acting like babies.
