Iraqi Soldiers Bite Heads Off Frogs

    These guys are tough!

    Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 5:44 p.m. EST

Iraqi soldiers bit the heads off frogs and ate the heart of a rabbit as signs of courage on Wednesday at a ceremony to transfer Najaf province, home to one of Shi'ite Islam's holiest shrines, from U.S. to Iraqi control.

A U.S. general called the transfer, under a plan to gradually hand over security and allow the withdrawal of 135,000 American troops, a major step in strengthening the Iraqi government as it seeks to stop sectarian violence.

Politicians, tribal and religious leaders and soldiers watched displays of military prowess and one demonstration, hailed as a display of courage, in which five soldiers stopped before the grandstand to bite the heads off frogs.

A sixth holding a live rabbit slit open its stomach and ate its heart before tossing the carcass to his comrades to chew on.

Under Saddam Hussein's rule, his feared Fedayeen militia carried out similar acts, and in one instance were videoed hunting a fox and then tearing it apart with their teeth.

One man's act of "courage" is another man's act of stupidity.

Beats the act of courage our Troops are spreading this holiday season.

"CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) -- A Marine Corps squad leader was charged Thursday with 13 counts of murder in the killings of 24 civilians in the Iraqi town of Haditha last year, his attorney said, and other Marines are expected to be charged."

One man's act of "courage" is another man's act of stupidity. You must be right.

Oh, What the hell! It's the holidays. We should sing "Auld Lang Syne" and let all be forgot, right chaps?

    Goodolefriend makes a valid point.

Upon further consideration, I do believe that LH may be auditioning for a job as White House Press Secretary.

Strategy: Release the horrendous press release about the Iraqis killing the bunnies, in order to deflect attention fron the little story about the 4 Marines that care charged with murdering 24 Iraqis.

LH - if I ever get arrested for some heinous crime, I will hire you as my PR man.

Funny I don't see that thread in the New Posts column each time I return.
Maybe you and goodolefriend could scrape together enough brain cells to put one up for us to read. Instead of your constant badger that I do not.
Could it be as usual your disgust for Americans out weighs your disgust for a known and declared enemy.
If guilty throw away the key.

    LH-don't get worked up.

The effete snobs make a practice of mocking those who show some fight. It's part of being just sooooo sophisticated.

They are the direct decendants of all those who thought Churchill was a shrill buffoon all through the thirties with his warnings about Hitler.

What will be more disgusting will be how quickly they will become fervent nativists after the first couple of suicide bombs go off on crowded NYC subway cars.

What is this enemy that you speak of? Define to me who the enemy actually is? Do they wear uniforms? How can you separate them from the rest of the Iraqi people? They must be the ones that are holding weapons, right?
If you cannot tell me exactly who the enemy is (without stating the obvious buzz words like Al Qaeda, the terrorists or insurgency) then you must not know! If there was a defined cut and dry enemy then our invinsible (laugh!) military would have destroyed them by now.
One can only deduce then that you believe the Iraqi people are the enemy. The insurgent base that cannot be smoked out of their holes (because they are the unlimited populous)? The Iraqi people that refuse to have US policy forced on them? Do you mean the Iraqi people that believe they are doing the right thing fighting the foreigners? You mean the Iraqi people that are Disgusted with the embarrassing way that our troops refuse to be humble guests in their culture?
If you know who the enemy is then I believe sir that you are more naive then I was led to believe.

Being an American is having intelligence and knowing which battles to pick. If you believe that battling a bunch of people in their country is a good idea then I suggest you learn how to swallow defeat (It will be easy for you, it's only your pride and not your life).

Maybe you don't realize the difference between criticism and mockery. You should take a look at it. I don't think that LH is mocking the troops; they are caught in the conspiracy of silence or the cowardice of acquiescence.

Maybe you don't realize that the Iraqi's that are killed feel don't think of themselves as criminals but as victims to foreign conquest.

They are the direct decendants of all those who thought Churchill was a shrill buffoon all through the thirties with his warnings about Hitler.

Haha! What a joke you are? Churchill had a direct enemy that wore uniforms, and DIRECTLY threatened the mainland of Europe and England. The British and the beloved commonwealth fought to protect the United Kingdom and for the preservation of its values that Britain had given to the world: Freedom and the Rule of Law. Without it, Britain would be a mock Britain without even the worthiness of the name. Churchill himself said this to the Cabinet on March the 6th. His cabinet banged on the table stating that there will be no British Vichy!

They were fighting to defend their country, similar to how the Iraqis are doing so against our "freedom and democratic volunteer army."
