    It's 'Buy Buffalo' Week

The group Buffalo First, which was just formed six months ago, has come up with the concept to encourage local shoppers to support stores in the City of Buffalo.

Buffalo First consists of local independent businesses and organizations that pool their resources to encourage area residents to support Buffalo's economy. Nearly 100 local businesses belong to the group.

Many participating merchants in Buy Buffalo Week are offering sales and incentives which run through Friday. Local greeting card manufacturer Great Arrow Graphics is one of many companies taking part in the program. "It's a great message this time of year," said company president Alan Friedman.

"You don't have to go to the mall and park. You can walk to the store and talk to the people who actually own it." Those business owners are more likely than national retailers to invest their profits into the local community, according to Buffalo First founder Amy Kedron.

People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.
