Like most responsible gun owners I am aware of what my backdrop is if I am discharging a firearm regardless of excitement level .
If you want to limit freedoms based on proficiency then we could make a good parenting thread.
Don't ever move to Isreal or South Africa.

My point was that shooting is a competitave sport as well. I am not destroying anything.
---------------> I'm also a female. I suppose you believe I don't have a right to bear arms either by your other statement?
I would assume 99% of gun owners..responsible gun owners also know you do not point a gun at a person....unless they are in danger of their life. I Pray it will never happen to me, but if it does I want my right to protect myself, and it will be the assisant before me if possible.
Honestly, I do not understand the logic of disecting the 2nd. Amendment, The right to bear arms....Period. Protection, protection, protection. My plus is that it is also a hobby.
Or if you really have a gun for home defense you have a shot gun. Load it up with proper shot and for the most part your wall worries go away.

Wouldn't it just be easier to creep up on the guy, and slam his head with a baseball bat? Rather than take the time to get your gun out of it's secured area (Your gun is secured, right?), then load it with the proper shot (You don't store your weapon loaded do you?), and try to get it cocked and ready to fire (Without making a sound)?
I would just as soon as use the shot gun to truncheon the guy. Faster, and easier.
But, I forget. You have to have a gun. It's your right![]()

No... firearms are an important tool that allow a person to protect their lives against other persons who are willing to take it. They protect that same life against attacks by wild animals. They can put food on the table when you are hungry. They can protect your country against outside aggressors. They enable you to take back control of your government when it becomes oppressive. They help control populations of certain animals where human growth has infringed upon the natural balance. They are a recreational hobby. They are an investment for collectors. They are a family history when passed down from parent to child to grandchild. They are the tool that tamed this country - for good or bad.
If you're against firearms or don't want to own one, then please do us all a favor and don't own one - because frankly in MHO, you have no business with one. But please don't try to tell the rest of us we shouldn't own them, and please don't try to tell us what the "sole" purpose of a firearm is. Those of us who own them are well aware of what they are, what they mean, and what their purposes are.
Just to answer... yes, I have... using a college level dictionary. It still says what it says. The common people have a right to own firearms.
Despite to 'popular' belief of gun control supporters, the founding fathers did not sit down and say, "Let's write a Bill of Rights" that nobody is truly going to understand for 200 years." They wrote it in the language that the common person of that day could understand.
And no, "Militia" does not mean the "National Guard" - which was established in 1903.
This arguement does not hold water, and it never did.
