LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Things are heating up over the closing of a fire hall in Lackawanna. This comes after the mayor announced that in less than one month, firefighters racked up more than 800 hours of overtime the city can’t afford.

I believe it's 9 or 10 fireman that need to be on for one shift. So, they must have all called off. I know some are or are in the process of retiring & using their use or lose time, but heard through the grapevine that some called off sick to go to their other jobs. As a whole the majority of our fireman are dedicated & conscientious public servants. As evidenced by the excessive overtime for 2 weeks, there might be a few rotten apples in the bunch. The fireman themselves shoudl straghten whoever these guys are out. Because of them, they all have gotten a bad PR reputation.
As a sidenote, there in NO recall provision in the New York State constitution. Only the governor can remove the Mayor & a mayor has to be guilty of a felony crime for the gov to do that.
