Do you watch the news, or do you just go online to defend Republicans? The entire news cast is dominated by calling this and other liberal / progressive Democratic ideals "socialistic."
Did you ever read the letter Diane signed on to? Yes or no please.
I am Diane's supporter and will be voting for her in this years primary solely because she signed onto this letter (making it her letter) and because I very very very much support fast food workers. If Diane wants to pay America's forgotten heroes $15/hr. I am behind her 100%!! Didn't even care to know who the lady was until I read her letter - go Diane! Fast food workers and other forgotten heroes are behind you!
Trolling.

Unless you have some crazy definition of what a "supporter" is, I am one. In that I will be voting for Diane Benczkowski solely because she believes that fast food workers, i.e. America's forgotten heroes, should make $15/hr.
Honestly, I wouldn't know her if I bumped into her on the street or in the drive-thru window, the only reason I even heard her name was because of her letter and then I did more research. I found out she was a former Republican who switched to Democrat probably because she grew a conscience.
As the moderator, you should want more new people on the forum - seems like a lot of the same stale old people who have very set opinions and are died in the wool for one person, mainly Diane's opposition because they would oppose the change in the law to give fast food workers $15/hr.
First - it ain't her Plan - it was hatched by other Politicians - she's just diving on the vote for me band wagon.
Change is good - BS is BS no matter who spouts it.
What is "Her Plan for reducing spending" ? Now that would be a change - a real "Plan" !
I also don't think raising taxes is a good thing - nor would most people want to see more business's leave - or is that what your actually trying to say she wants - higher taxes - less jobs ?????
PS - Me thinks you may have added a few lines - no where does it say jobs will be lost or business's would leave - nor does it state she doesn't care if that happens
- YOU ARE TWISTING !
Sounds like a status quo old school Dem trick to me !

My specific opinion is that anyone who supports $15hr for fast food employees is either pandering, naive or someone who would get a raise. My opinion is based on the following:
1 - Not all jobs are equal. The idea that every job should provide for a family is just stupid. The pursuit of this, in the long run, pushes out the low end of the labor market. The reason is jobs that do pay for a family have requirements in skill and sadly many are not skilled enough.
2 - I am not a subscriber to a 40hr work week. 40hrs should only be used to factor things like overtime. I think people should work the amount of hours they need to support the life decisions they make. These decisions can be the size of the family they have or the lifestyle they want. Personally I work about 30hrs a week. If someone wants to have 2 kids, that's a decision that they have made. They need to work to support that. This can either be collecting the necessary skills/education to work less than 40hrs or working more time because they did not put in the effort at some point in time.
3 - In a labor market, there needs to be opportunity for part time or supplemental labor positions. The effort to bump all labor to a 'living wage' cuts out these opportunities and is counterproductive. To point #2, if fast food jobs pay $15hr, fast food employers will eventually only look for high quality / full-time employees. This prevents someone who works a first job from picking up hours at a second due to the schedule.
It appears that people like you and Benczkowski place little to no consideration to the employer. Which is your right, but also shortsighted and naive. An employer has the right to make a profit and define the labor margins for their business. Working in an echo chamber, which people like you do, only causes reverb to bounce back and bite you in the ass later down the line. Examples of this will be:
> Automating with technology functions that were previously done by low skilled labor.
> Phasing out low skilled labor with more qualified labor that now finds these positions suitable due to the income.
At the end of the day, $15hr is a $31,200 annual wage. That is pretty dame close to the median income for Buffalo of $32,392. So this goal is to take the lowest of low skilled jobs and force employers to pay the median. Are you familiar with what the median means? If so, you should quickly realize how shortsighted of a pursuit this is.
Now the statement you liked to does have some interesting content:
It says rapidly raising the minimum wage to $15 will have tremendous positive consequences for the health, wellbeing, and dignity of tens of thousands of fast food workers and their families.
This is true but what you fools don't grasp or discuss is who these people are. Here is a hint. It's NOT going to be the people working these jobs now. See the median income above. When you make asking 'would you like fries with that' a job that pays more than HALF of the jobs out there, jobs that require skill and come with much more responsibility, you're going to see many people leave these positions for the easier employment. This is just human nature as we tend to find the easiest path. To prove this, look at what is going on in Seattle. There you have people who are being paid $15 and choosing to work less time in order to keep their benefits...rather than working MORE time to get ahead in life.
The fast food industry is incredibly profitable
This is just moronic. The reason is you fools are not capable of or willing to distinguish the difference between chains and franchise owners when talking about profits, even though these labor changes would be applied to both franchise owners and independent or regional operations. One size fits all is for simple minds.
I know this is not going to change your mind and I don't care if it does. I simply just wanted to illustrate how naive your perspective is.
Have a nice day.

I don't think Diane said she was for the 15 an hour. Id hope most here would see who this left14227 is and what they are trying to do here. Again scaminski and Sister Alice and Prince Rogowski all think taxpayers are stupid
There are 137 companies across the country are on this $15.00 per hour list one of them is Buffalo Wild Wings listed as a fast food also any place where you pay first for a meal example Old Country Buffet are on this list. As this becomes more of a reality you will see more and more companies either open for less hours, laying staff off and/or closing there doors all together. Some of them on this list are Starbucks, Tim Horton's, all pizza shops/sub shops like dominoes, pizza hut, you will see prices make a huge jump on products we love to use daily can you buy a $10.00 to 12 sub or $25.00 for a single order of chicken wings. The good thing out of this will force more people to eat at home due to these high increases that are coming.
These are entrance level jobs you do not raise a family on these type of wages these entrance level jobs are for the teens who are entering into the work force for the first time or upgrading from summer jobs to full time jobs. While we ignore placing more focus on trade schools people will always need a plumber, electrician, carpenter, landscapers, etc..... I wish I had the skills to work on roofs but I never learned the trade today, I wish I had my roof would be up to date today. I do not support this $15.00 per hour increase by the time it becomes fully implemented they (workers) will cry out for another large increase in a few years. As companies pass on these increases unto the consumers prices will double making way for another increase until we are paying $20.00 for a loaf of bread; mark my words it is coming.

Gee, imagine that, a business won't be able to survive unless it is allowed to pay below-living wages.
Isn't that the same argument slave owners made? 'How we gonna grow cotton if we have to pay the slaves - hell, we already feed and house them!?"
Gotta worry about those billion dollars of profits being raked in by Mcdonalds.
And most importantly, we have to keep that burger cheap else the SUV driving public will go to bed hungry at night.
Now for the most inane claim: "If we have to raise wages for jobs that pay sub-living wages, then there will be less sub-living wage jobs..."
Exactly. If we eliminate child labor there'll be fewer kids working in sweatshops. See how that works?
the proposed wage increase is faulty and won't survive legal challenges because it is not across the board for all employees.
Hopefully its demise in the courts will lead to nationwide increases in the minimum wage for all employees.
If Diane wants to be Supervisor time to act like one.
If I was running for Supervisor I would call the WPF party and ask how did my name get on that list? I want my name off that list. I would also make a statement for the paper I didn't authorize my name to be on their mailer if it wasn't true.
