NFL team owners approve Raiders' move to Las Vegas

OMG.. $750 million in public funding for a new stadium. let davis pay for it himself if he wants to move. You watch old money bags will be sticking his nose into this for his new stadium. Raiders games is expected to move into a planned $1.7 billion domed stadium in Las Vegas. could you imagen if they wanted 750 mil for thenew bills stadium. Again politicians are all for it.

In what is sure to be an awkward process, the Raiders won't be moving immediately. The new stadium in Las Vegas is not expected to be ready until 2020. The Raiders plan to play at the Oakland Coliseum in 2017 and 2018, Davis said in a statement. Davis also expressed openness to staying in Oakland in 2019, although NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league would look into potential venues for 2019. In the meantime, the Raiders will remain the Oakland Raiders.

"My father always said, 'the greatness of the Raiders is in its future,' and the opportunity to build a world-class stadium in the entertainment capital of the world is a significant step toward achieving that greatness," Davis said.

This is a surreal moment involving one of the NFL's most iconic franchises, although NFL teams changing cities is sadly becoming routine. The news caps a frenetic 14-month stretch during which three teams announced plans for relocation. The Rams moved from St. Louis back to Los Angeles last year and the Chargers announced their decision to move from San Diego to L.A. in January. Goodell said last week on MMQB Peter King's podcast that leaving Oakland would be "painful."

Bills want to 'have some success' before asking for help to build new stadium

PHOENIX — A year ago, the NFL was making a strong push for the Buffalo Bills to build a new stadium.

The league's position appears to have softened greatly since then.

According to a high-ranking NFL source, the league now believes that Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula are doing the right thing by taking their time before committing to a move from New Era Field. Although the Bills and the NFL would contribute to the cost of building a new stadium, public money would also be involved.

I think there are some other factors outside of 'some success' in play here. At least as it relates to how much money Pegula puts up. Just going to throw this out there but it's my understanding that the lease for KeyBank Arena and New Era Field are only a year or two apart.

Portland is the 25th largest MSA in the USA and only has 1 professional team. Larger than Pittsburgh (4 Pro teams), Cincinnati (3) and Cleveland (3) for what it's worth. Portland is expected to grow in population topping out at over 3 million by 2035.

Leftie, Portland has always been a good hockey town. The winter hawks do great in the WHL and they've been there 40 years. And think of the rivalries in the NFL, vs. Seattle, the 49'ers, Rams, Raiders, Chargers. And like you said, growing like a weed. When the Oregonian reports population growth it's not fake news, unlike when the local rag reports of population growth only to then have to face the cold hard truth that the decline continues apace.

Try 1.9 Billion for Las Vegas's new NFL Stadium, 750 Million from a Hotel Room Tax, 650 Million from Bank Of American, 500 Million from Davis & the Raiders and 200 Milllion from the NFL. Also Davis is paying 325 Million to the other NFL owners for the relocation fee to move the Raider's from Oakland to Las Vegas. Also Las Vegas's new NHL Team, The Golden Knights will play their 1st NHL game in the new T-Mobile Area in the Fall and MGM International CEO Jim Murren is pursuing a NBA Team For the T-Mobile Arena NBA Expansion teams are expected to be awarded to Las Vegas & Seattle

The price of NFL new stadiums is going up another 500 million every 2 or 3 years, Buffalo's problem is if even the taxpayers pay for a 2 or 3 Billion Stadium, You still have the problem of selling 1000's of luxury corparate suites and the super high ticket price's that go's with todays new NFL Stadiums

There are no legit reasons for the NFL and owners to not pay for their own stadiums or raise private financing. They need to stop twisting the arms of governments into screwing the taxpayers
Vote for freedom, not political parties.
    Politicians need to cut spending

Other than NFL teams are luxuries that residents want. They come at a cost but also come with benefits. Just like supporting golf courses, theater companies, public transportation, public roads and any other cost that government spends money on. Buffalo is well within their right to say no of course. San Diego and Oakland just did. But the cost is a team leaving. From my knowledge of WNY, if funding the stadium went up to vote it would pass.

As for twisting the arms. That's just how you raise money. It's just the game. Don't hate the NFL because they are good at it.

So what benefits has Buffalo seen after the Bills were in 4 super bowls?

The region is still losing population if we don't count the importation of refugees. When was the last time you heard of a family moving to Buffalo because we have a football team? I think a city having a football is cool but that doesn't mean I want money taken from me to build them a stadium. I'd rather keep that money in my pocket and use it for something that directly benefits me.

The Taxpayers can build a 2 billion new stadium, but their still not enough Fortune 100, Fortune 500, Fortune 1000 companys or even enough large business's in the whole WNY region to purchase the 100's & 100's corporate suites/luxury boxes that go's with a new NFL stadium, That's where the NFL Owners make their money, not seats, Do you remember Ralph Wison said it several times and also Ralph Wilson said that their squeezing us out, Enjoy your Bills while you got them.

Their building nearly a 1/2 Billlon dollar new Nascar/Gran Prix race track at PIR in Phoenix, It's going to have 100's & 100 of corporate suites/boxes and all new & future Nascar race tracks being built will have 100's & 100's of corporate luxury suites

It's not 100s and 100s of suites you moron. It will be between 75 and 125 you moron. New Era Field currently has 54. University of Phoenix Stadium, in your backyard, only has 88. Paul Brown has 114. Most new stadiums have around 130 outside of the top markets.

There is more than enough wealth in the Rochester to Southern Ontario markets to sell 100 to 125 suites provided the people paying for them don't have to deal with traffic in getting out of Orchard Park. I know that when you lived in WNY you were nothing more than a townie and were in the lower class...so understanding the wealth that actually exists in the region is an abstract process for you...but it's there.

Second to this, while it's true that owners make their money off suites, there is a spectrum of wealth on owners. Jerry Jones is said to have a net worth of $5 billion but his Cowboys are worth $4 billion. Most of his wealth is tied up in the team. Pegula on the other hand is worth $4.1 billion but the Bills are worth only $1.4 Billion. Do you understand what that means you idiot? It means that most of Pegulas wealth is not tied up in the Bills. Most if it is liquid.

Now is Pegula going to 'donate' the Bills and give suites away for free? No. But he also does not need hundreds and hundreds of luxury boxes sold to bring in revenue. The Bills and Sabres are a passion project for Pegula. They are a nest egg for his children and grandchildren. It's why he overpaid for the team when he purchased them. It's a long term plan. But you are obviously poor and most of the logic behind this is going over your head. Someone one the first floor above the basement you're in.

The Rams New Stadium being built in Inglewood has 250 luxury suites and 20,000 club suites. and theirs over 1 Billion dollars in private invesment paying for it
AZ Cardinals Stadium was built 2006 and already is 11 years old, The Bidwells are already talking about building a new larger NFL Stadium in Downtown Phoenix or Scottsdale within 5 years to 10 years maybe sooner, because the current stadium seating is too small, Every Single NFL game has been a sell out since the stadium in 2006, They plan to host 1 more Super Bowl in 2022ish in University of Phoenix in Glendale and the Next Super Bowl in AZ would be in The new Stadium before 2027ish

    =

Then put the entire cost of golf courses in the greens fee. Or the entire cost of the senior center on the backs of those who go there. See how that works.

Put it another way, there are about 1000 things you should be upset over on how your money is spent before you get upset about a stadium. The problem is most people are like cats and get distracted by shiny objects.
