Caire Inc. is Closing it's Amherst Plant, 160 people are losing thier jobs. The Commerce Drive facility makes respiratory products and is moving operations to Georgia.
add that with 100's of people more about to lose their jobs at Great Batch in Clarence because they are moving their jobs to Frisco TX and the MGS Plant on Walden Ave in Cheektowaga is closing in March, Again add that with another 600 people that just lost thier jobs at Ahold, when they just closed their Giant Warehouse's in Cheektowaga and Lancaster and moved the operations to PA & MA, then more people just lost their jobs when Macy's closed it's Mc Kinley Mall store's and Eastern Hills Mall Store, plus the K-mart store on Walden closed and yet more people are losing their jobs soon as Sears closes their Walden Gallera Mall Store & Boulevard Mall Store this Spring. plus all the smaller stores that closed or are closing the local malls such as The Limited, GAP
But their's hope, when you use the word Hope (it means things are really bad, bleak or hopeless) but again so true, When a city tallest building which is the city's ICON
is vacant, empty and went bankrupt and has been all dark for years aka One Seneca Place. The new owner Douglas says he thinks he can fill it with new tenant's , but it's going to take time, Douglas say's it's going to take 10 to 15 years to fill it because of Buffalo's market conditions.
The queston is, What will be Buffalo's Economy be like in 10 to 15 years ? How many more Ten's of Thousand's of People will have left WNY, and what will the property taxes be like in another 10 to 15 years, Mostly likely they be Double or more of what they are now.
Once your on the cycle of decline, your in BIG BIG TROUBLE and Buffalo & WNY has been on the cycline of decline in just about every category, stat, statistics, Population loss's, business loss's, infrastructure and everything else in the encyclopedia going on 40+ years Even The sports teams, the Bills & Sabre's have been in decline for over decade, then yet another problem, The Stadium, How to do you pay for 2.5 Billion New Stadium (the cost of new stadium's keep skyrocketing the longer your wait) and even you build it how to sell all the hundred's & hundreds of corporate luxury suites/boxes when Buffalo, WNY, CNY S.Ontario don't have big business HQ's to spend the milllions on season lease for a corporate suite ?
PS But atleast Depew preserved Village Life and will be paying a couple of thousand dollars more over the next 2 years and in 2019 the Property taxes will be raised again

Where are the 2 Control Boards ? The City of Buffalo Control Board & The Erie County County Control Board ?
it's nearing 10 years of having 2 Control Boards, Just more of the same and business as usual. They just like getting payed their 6 digit salary's
the erie county board has been in soft mode since 2009, assuming it's even still around at all
