It was never a question of it being fake. Any adult who has used the internet for more than a few years can easily spot that. The question is that apparently some people did not realize that, posted this as fact and then when they discovered it was fake tried to play it off like they didn't get dupped.
This was an easy story to debunk. Imagine the more elaborate ones that dupped a large portion of the population during this last election....

Everyone is human Alan and makes mistakes.
Even without the fake news issues the core Dem party received what it deserved.

Considering I don’t have a Facebook account, don’t use Instagram, don’t tweet, twitter, or whatever and only blog on this social media outlet, my source of information comes from the supposed legitimate media.
Buying into fake news is deserving of chastisement, but it is difficult and more so every day to distinguish truth from lies – like “under fire in Bosnia, Benghazi, e-mail scandals, etc. when much of the news comes from an “in the tank mainstream media." If this is a gotcha moment for you, enjoy!

There isn't a news story about literally anything - a party at Canalside? A car crash? - out of which you wouldn't try to construct some sort of facile partisan argument.
The irony of someone who said "fake news" wasn't a problem succumbing within days to a well-known fake news site is something you have empathy for, but not much else I imagine.

Let me articulate this for you:
"I'm not locked in here with them. They're locked in here with me!!"
