I did some quick calculations of per capita government spending to illustrate my view that all the focus on a tiny part of municipal government--the town board, is a huge mistake.

(If Free NY had been able to raise sufficient funds to operate as intended, a full length study on this could have been published.)

Per capita spending

1. Federal—$13,000
spending 4,000,000,000,000
pop. 307,000,000

2. NY State--$6500
spending 130,000,000,000
pop. 20,000,000

3. Amherst Central School District $1792
spending 43,000,000
pop. 24,000

4. Erie Co. $1166
spending 1,050,000,000
pop. 900,000

5. Amherst $1000
spending 117,000,000
pop. 116,000

As you can see, municipal government is the cheapest level of gov.

Spending huge amounts of time, money and energy trying to make tiny cuts in the cheapest level of gov. to the exclusion of the real problems, is obviously a mistake.

When an area has declined for 50 straight years, it means there is something seriously wrong with the basic thinking on policy matters.

I'm not just griping here. This data does point toward a course of action.

If you understand that government schools are the big spenders both locally and state-wide, and that they indoctrinate the population to love big government at all levels, it is obvious that they must be the strategic target.

That is the subject of my new book and website.
