    Maple tree helicopters

One of my maple trees is usually loaded with helicopters but not this year. Is it still too early? Anyone else notice a difference in their trees?

Yeah. It's because we had a mild winter. The winter before last was brutal and as a result, the trees "think" they are dying and make a lot more seeds. The trees never put out the same amount of helicopters every year - it depends on the what kind of winter we had.

I don't do my mulch until the helicopters are done. That's why I was asking

This year has been light on the helicopters. Neighbor has a maple tree and our driveway is usually loaded with them. I think this year will be bad for bugs. I a lot of things crawling in the woods this year.

Yeah, last year it was horrible. I keep looking up in that tree and I only see one bunch of them, probably about 10. I've only seen 3 or 4 on the ground. Thought maybe they were going to come later than usual. I'm so glad. No raking, sweeping or blowing.
