    Ethics Committee

Did Councilman Hart or Supervisor Meeghan commit perjury before the Ethics Committee concerning Councilman Hart's hiring of his relative. Councilman Hart stated to the ethics committee that Supervisor Meeghan requested that Hart make a motion to have his cousin appointed to a town job because of his name ( Walsh ) . This was the reason Hart stated to the Ethics Committee that he nominated his cousin for a town job. . Supervisor Meeghan sent a letter to the Ethics Committee meeting the following month explaining she never requested Councilman Hart to make the motion to hire his cousin and if the committee had addressed this issue to her she would have told them. The Ethics Commitee did not follow up on who Supervisor Meeghan or Councilman Hart was telling the truth. Maybe the Ethics Committee should decide what the penalty should be for deliberately giving false information before rendering a decision to the Town Board

Once again we see "legal word games" as excuses for not telling the truth - too many lawyer types in government.

"if the committee had addressed this issue to her she would have told them. The Ethics Committee did not follow up on who Supervisor Meeghan or Councilman Hart was telling the truth" -

So what we see is like a child - "I didn't say it - so I didn't lie - you didn't ask if I stole it"

Wasn't "Walsh" Supervisor Meegan's maiden name?

Supervisor Meegan had the opportunity to address the issue of Hart's explaination to the Ethics Committee, that he nominated his cousin for full time employment in the town, knowing it violated the Ethics code because Supervisor Meegan asked him to do this as a favor to her. During the 6/15 Town Board Meeting a motion was made to accept the findings of the Ethics Committee. This was the time for Supervisor Meegan to explain to the public her position on Councilman Hart's accusation that she asked him to do her a favor. Instead she voted in favor along with Councilman Hanley to accept the Ethics Committee's recommendation, even though the Committee never followed up on the letter she sent to them condemning them for Councilman Hart's false statement to the Committee and the agenda some of the members ( Clifford, Amy Carpenter,Gehen) pursued against the individual who made the accusation against Hart. . Clifford, Carpenter and Gehen appointed to the Committee by Hanley and Hart give an appearance to the Committee of politics when they try to accuse the individual (Dale Clarke ) rather than follow the facts. Minutes of the Ethics Committee hearing are available on the Towns web site and I encourage people to read both meetings minutes.
