Hopefully these guys from the city will get their butts handed to them by HUD. I still can't believe these guys think they can get away with this one.

It was nice to see in today's paper that Hamburg is taking care of it's schools with the next 6 going up on their side of the property.

Heard a certain somebody moved up to #1 on the police list.....when is Housing going to court or will it all be over with prior to the court date? I can't imagine that 17 or 18 people have turned down the police job to make this person reachable. Hmmmmmmm

    Lackawanna Municipal Housing Authority

The Lackawanna Municipal Housing Authority has until March 17, 2010 to spend all of $1.5 million in stimulus funding.

HUD has sent a strong warning to the Housing Authority to make sure the money is spent or else it will be gone.

While HUD does not audit the L.M.H.A., they do monitor how funds are spent. So far, about $800,000 needs to be allocated. It is expected that the commissioners will finalize plans at a meeting on Tuesday.

This isn't the latest issue for Lackawanna officials. Last month, residents complained about their voices not being heard by lawmakers.

They will spend it on themselves by giving themselves pay raises. No wonder why Normie wanted control!! That's 1.5million more dollars for him and his buddy Arc to pilfer. Hope the residents are not expecting anything because when Normie is in charge the citizens come last and he comes first. Just look around the city and see for yourself crumbling infrastructure, run down playgrounds, city hall and fire stations falling apart. Crying that they have no money but look at the pay raises given out, money blown on lawyers because Arc can't do his job, pensions etc... great run down city though. GREAT LEADERSHIP AND GREAT JOB NORM!!! Your just turning this city into a cesspool of waste one budget at a time! Good grief when will this ever end!!!

That's 1 and 1/2 MILLION DOLLARS folks in stimulus money! Don't hear City Hall bragging about repairing, upgrading, rebuilding with that money, do you? Last time I heard, the tenants had LOTS of legitimate needs! That October flood did a lot of damage to basements, etc.

    Post Yep!

We didn't get any Homeland Security money either. If it wasn'f for our Firemen writing their own grants we would not have the new pumper either.
Other communities get Community Development Block Grant money to put up a gazebo for their weekly summer band concerts, etc. The City of Lackawanna gets more "points" to qualify for the pot of CDBG monies due to our blighted neighborhoods and low income population. Why does the blight never go away?
And where is Lackawannas' Stimulus money---we could be the poster child for "stimulus"!
I will give them credit for a nice picnic ground/shelter behind the Senior Center AND the Veterans' Stadium is a pleasant change and honorable tribute to our Vets. Bravo to all who worked hard for change!
The shelter is available all summer long for all citizens' use for a $35.00 clean-up fee. Cheaper than alot of State Parks, if they are still open. Please call your state reps on that one, too!
