No, not really. Guns are tools for killing/maiming your target. Dogs are living animals.

    Quite a bit of difference.

You mean a dog and a gun are different?
    They're hard to differentiate.
That's why people are always petting their gun and loading up their dog.

Which can be trained to kill and maim. Depends how they are trained and brought up.

    Quite a bit of difference.

SUre are. A killer dog actually moves!!! The dog gets out and can kill little kids.. A secure gun in a safe just sort of sits there. So with that reasoning I'd say....BAN ALL DOGS!! You know I'm not serious but if people want to come up with lame excuses about how bad guns are we can do the same about dogs, forks, knives, bricks, rocks, tree limbs, pens, even sharpened pencils, unsharpen pencils if you push hard enough, cars, nail guns, etc... it's the person behind the item not the item itself.

Still a big difference. A dog is not designed to kill/maim a target. It is designed to survive and reproduce. Sure, it can kill/maim prey, but it's not the primary design purpose.

A gun is designed for one purpose: To kill/maim a target. Sure, you can use a gun to break chains, but it's primary design purpose is to kill/maim a target.

See, you can't really compare them. But since you do, I personally think not everyone should be allowed to own either of them. I think an idiot test should be required.

If we could weed out the idiots from owning both, we'd stop having things like dog fighting and people who think it's ok to start a firefight in their house, or out in public.

I have nothing against dogs but this just isnt true.
Most Scientists agree that dogs are directly descended from Canis Lupus in other words - the Grey Wolf.

No problem here killing a dog that attacked me. No sleep lost.
more animals are abused by humans than the other way around,,so they should have their shot as well.

    It's just a dog?
I get the picture you don't like dogs,, or animals, correct me if I am wrong. I can't say I would kill a dog that bit me.
    Depends on the situation.

You are not familiar with Shutzhund training then, are you?

Shutzhund dogs are trained to restrain a person until the handler arrives. They don't aim to maim.

somewhat familiar with schutzhund, I also know that some dogs such as the South African Boerboel had the application of being able to kill people. , other canines such as wolfhounds, akita's were bred to kill specific prey items

No. You don't get the picture. At all. I love animals. All of them.
However, I reserve my right to kill anything that attacks me unprovoked.

A real man could take a dog bite and just laugh it off .

My body is a canvas of real man scars, if I killed everything that gave them to me it would be like...well that movie with Will Smith.

The Akita is a working dog, just as the Bully breeds, and GSD. They were not bred to kill.

In fact, the Akita was bred to bring down the game, to allow the hunting parties to finish the kill.

The South African Boerboel is being worked on to be a working dog breed as well. Not to kill, but to guard.

Wolfhounds were bred to eliminate wolves. Not kill humans, and have a low human-agression tendency. Just like the Bully and GSD breeds.

None you named were bred to kill. Unlike a gun, which was designed to kill.

Your probably the type that killed a mosquito just for biting you.
..and animal that's only one billionth or so your size.
Yeah, that was a real fair fight.
Next, you'll scratch yourself and kill innocent families of microbes.
