Falls patrolman shoots and kills large dog attacking fellow officer

Unfortunate incident - but a reminder that the law allows anyone to destroy a dog that is attacking them, another person, or a domestic animal.

Nope. Law specifically apples to dogs. It does not apply to attacks by cats, hamsters, goldfish, or cows.

On February 12th an 8 year old Dewey, Arizona girl was seriously wounded by family member's 3 year old male Pit Bull mix named "Knuckles".

The child underwent surgery and is reportedly facing several more surgeries to repair the damage caused by the attack.

The report indicated that the dog has played with the children in the past and has not displayed aggressive behavior before.

Dog owner could face charges in attack.

James Bates, 23, was attacked about 7 a.m. as he emptied the garbage outside his home in the 5900 block of Grandview Drive. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer Marlon Minor shot both dogs, killing one, when they went after him as he tried to help Bates.

Dogs are too easy to put down to be afraid of them. NY Agriculture and Markets Law section 121-a is man's best friend.

What is the point of this thread? An anti-dog crusade?

90 lb pit sounds like it's not a pit. Pit bulls average 50-60 lbs. 90 lbs sounds more along the lines of a rottie or something. Or a mutt. Not a pit however (Any of the three varieties).

A dog that attacks someone should be subject to a retaliatory attack by the the attacked human. That's fair. It's just a dog, and not a very nice dog.
No problem here killing a dog that attacked me. No sleep lost.

It could be like the anti-gun thread. One bad dog condemns the whole group of dogs.

Not quite on the same level. Guns are tools designed to kill/maim a target. Dogs are not designed to kill.

You don't honestly consider dogs as being the same as a gun, do you?

The dog depends on how the owner trained it. No different than how an owner of a gun decided to use it. WOuldn't you agree?
