and so does some businesses...like the auto industry to name one. IF Hooker chemicals really didn't want to sell the land; the could have let the gov't take full responsiobility with eminent domain, but they did not.

Do you ? Walmart has been caught using illegal immigrants, do you agree with this practice ? I don't.

Is this the only post you make. You say the same thing over and over and over again. Can you go to your union rep for some more material?

I'd never noticed this thread before. I honestly can't believe that an elected representative doesn't know the difference between an economic system and a political system. Wow am I glad she was voted out! Did Locklear even manage to pass a basic poly sci class in high school or college? Or did she just forget it all?
    But your being a dick

Honestly you seem like a hippocrite. I say this because you spent X amount of years working for the Coast Guard and yet you blast government employees--on this one you can't have it both ways. By the way--did you retire from the Coast Guard? What a cool job !

I like Military People,I like Firemen,I can tolerate Cops after that if you aint private sector you are a slacker.I have never had much respect for people who cant make it on their own.Public sector folks are in it for the benifits and thats all.But you know whats sad ? A soldier dies and it goes unnoticed but when a Politician or some public sector departs this earth they name a bridge afer them. Yes sir that person at the DMV or the looser handing out tickets on the tollroads, now those are real heros, those people make my life so much better. So give me Faith and old dog to keep me company and a Veteran to have a beer with and I am a rich man,who doesen't need some public sector boob to help me.

Nope... the only time I get money from them is when I get a tax refund; unfortunately the devil usually gets more than its due and never gives me back as much as I'd like.

The Long, Proud History of Eminent Domain
    Posted on December 7, 2007, 3:12pm | Kerry Howley

Texas authorities want to sell some public land, though the property was donated to the state in exchange for a pledge that it not be sold. State Senator John Whitmire (D-Houston) has another idea: keep the land and take some more.

"You are dead wrong about the way you are handling the future of this precious state asset," Whitmire said. "Simply put, it would be nuts to sell this land to private owners."

[Whitmire] said the state also should consider condemning adjacent private property to open up public access.

"Condemnation is a concept that has been used properly since the beginning of time, and I would consider that," Whitmire said.

Yes boys and girls, since the beginning of time. I guess you could argue that Adam and Eve were victims of a land grab.

Politics is human nature. No different than your's or mine.
One beautiful thing about having a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations is that every disaster is measured in terms of economic loss. It's sort of like getting your arm sheared off in a car accident and thinking, "Damn, now it'll take longer to fold the laundry" as blood spurts from your arteries. - The Rude Pundit
