To answer the Uniland question - "Why does a major builder need five IDA’s?"....They need it to stay competitive.
I did a little homework regarding Lancaster IDA’s. http://www.lancasterny.com/lida/intro.html
Very interesting reading prior to election time. It may be time for Erie County to scrap IDA program since bad outweighs the good in many cases. Most are legitimate but some, in my opinion, are questionable to say the least. For example, why does Lancaster Airport have three (3) IDA’s? Airport does not produce anything and has no plans (according to master plan) to hire any additional employees. IDA’s allow airport to keep hanger prices low enough to take business away from other small airports. I also notice UNILAND has five IDA’s. Why does a major builder need five IDA’s? How about Ecology & Environment? "Working Together. Finding Solutions.
Ecology and Environment, Inc., (E & E) works closely with its clients to devise solutions that promote global sustainable economic and human development with minimal negative environmental impact". Really? They are involved with airport which does nothing but create air pollution 24/7. Here is my favorite one: Mary Nowak, Secretary on Cemetery Road has an IDA. Who is Mary Nowak? I remember a Mary Nowak on Town of Lancaster Planning Board. Is she the same person and if so, why does she have an IDA? I have not been able to get more information on this. Anyone out there have the answer? I bet 4248 has the answer.

To answer the Uniland question - "Why does a major builder need five IDA’s?"....They need it to stay competitive.
What is the story with individual names getting IDA's?
Doesn't that right there tell you that IDA are wrong in our environment? The answer is not selective IDA's, the solution is to cut spending, the amount we compensate government employees at ALL LEVELS, federal included.
Why do some businesses in WNY get a little life vest but everyone else get's to bob in the water of high taxes/fees.. etc...

Ok, you and I will have this conversation for the one millionth and one time, but this is the final time:
First of all, I don't know what you mean by "in this environment?" What environment are you speaking of? Good? Bad? Current conditions?
Secondly - Yes, in a perfect world you are correct. Theoretically, expenses should just be cit across the board, and then IDA's would not be necessary.
So, if you want to start a thread, saying that taxes should be cut across the board, then go ahead and start one. In the mean time, some of us will live in the real world.
Alternatively, we could take away the inducements and just wait for your idea of reducing taxes to catch on. Meanwhile, we'll lose a boat load of jobs. But, that's OK, I suppose.

That's the key right there - you don't personally care about local employment. Now that I know how you feel, I can understand why you say what you say.If Joe smith loses his job that will not effect me. FOr every Joe smith there is a charley stickenfinder to take his place as a client. DOn't give me **** about jobs. Everytime albany raises taxes/fees it causes job loses and people may move from here. THey only care about themselves and their pockets. Only job that is important to me is mine. Everyone should be in the same boat.
Still came into erie county and I'm fine with that.
If I had a magic wand I think we should make Buffalo all of erie county even with the very poor to the rich all in the mix.
Remove all duplication of government jobs, all government jobs are just names on paychecks to me. I know they are people but in the end.. we are all social security numbers to the government and it goes both ways.

Financial Assistance
Through the use of industrial revenue bonds, the Lancaster Industrial Development Agency (LIDA) can construct facilities for a term and at a price sufficient to amortize the necessary bonds.
Advantages to this approach, utilizing taxexempt revenue bonds, include the ability to write off annual lease costs and the ability to secure a more favorable interest rate.
Real property tax incentives are generous and require no negotiation. Please ask to review them with us.
Development & Planning
Teamwork, planning and innovation are part of the Lancaster tradition. A master plan of action , compiled by a team of land planners and engineers, assures a compatible formula for industrial, commercial and residential growth.
Development is closely coordinated for orderly expansion and providing all facilities and town services at the time of occupancy.
Land zoned for industrial use has been carefully selected to provide immediate access to existing or planned transport routes.
Lancaster is 42 square miles. This area is uncrowded but not underdeveloped. We have the land and services to absorb growth.
There are very few topographical limitations that could restrict development.
Practically all sites are on flat and dry land. We have planned for growth in Lancaster and we encourage it! More that 5,000 acres of land has been protectively zoned for industry.

Please as far as most LIDA hand outs, just go to the NYS Board of Elections website.
Many individuals and company's on the the Lancaster Democratic donors/campaign contributions lists are related to almost every IDA you find.
As I said many times, Lancaster has a Town History and a well documented "Political/Economical History"
But, I guess maybe if the Party Boss can create enough tax funded positions - they wont need the other taxpayers - they obviously don't worry about us now!
Like Uncle Bobby says, "Don't like what we do, vote with your feet!"
#Dems play musical chairs + patronage and nepotism = entitlement !
