Ted Morton for Erie County Legislature District 8

    Ted Morton

    BIOGRAPHY:
    –30 year resident of Cheektowaga
–Married 29 years to Christine; 1 daughter: Kristin
–Independent Financial Advisor for 28 years; currently associated with LPL Financial
    –1982 Graduate of UB
    REASON FOR RUNNING FOR LEGISLATURE:
For 40 years, Erie County has lost population at an average rate of 5000 people per year! This has been mainly due to the failed policies of many of our elected officials—politicians that vote for special interests and not the taxpayers. As a result, many publications, including the Wall Street Journal, have identified Western New York has one of the highest taxed regions in the country. Too many of our children leave for lack of jobs and our parents & grandparents can not afford to stay. In 2007 the people of Erie County AND this Legislative District overwhelmingly voted for real, significant change! Erie County elected Chris Collins based on his policy proposals, not his party affiliation. His common sense ideas are to make Erie County competitive again to live and work. However, my opponent, a career politician, was reelected. He has fought most of the most meaningful changes that Chris Collins has tried to make. Therefore, I ask the people of the 8th District:
    TOGETHER, LETS FINISH THE JOB!
    PLATFORM:
    I have 2 basic goals:
1). Vote to cut the size of the legislature from 15 to 9 AND reduce the members’ pay by 50%. How can the legislature ask for more efficient employee contracts if they themselves will not lead by example?
2). On every bill brought to vote, I pledge to vote for the taxpayers, not special interests! My opponent consistently votes for those that contribute the most to his campaign!
The philosophy behind my votes can be summed up with 8 letters:
–On Social issues——–WWJD—What Would Jesus Do?
–On Economic issues—WWRD—What Would Reagan Do?

I know of no finer examples than the above when decisions have to be made.
    HOW YOU CAN HELP:
If you believe as I do that the people of the 8th District deserve better representation than we are currently receiving, PLEASE HELP! I cannot do this alone! It will take many, many people contributing whatever they possibly can to win! My opponent has special interest money and a political machine behind him. HOWEVER, the better ideas are ours! Therefore, just like Chris Collins in 2007, I know this District WANTS a smaller, more efficient government! Its up to all of us to do whatever possible to make this happen. Ways of helping:
–Contribute to my campaign: Friends of Ted Morton
–Pass out literature to friends and neighbors
–Make calls later in the campaign
–Allow a lawn sign to go up
–Make sure everyone in your household is registered to vote! ( If absentee ballots are needed—out of town students, etc.—go to www.erieboe.com )
In 2007, although out-enrolled almost 3 to 1, the people of this District in a 2 to 1 LANDSLIDE voted policies NOT politics! Its time to take the next step. Only with the help of many, can we be successful. This November remember:
    TOGETHER, LETS FINISH THE JOB!
