then why create a thread with this?

In your opinions, what is the most dangerous, or junkiest looking street in Buffalo?

Due to neglect, gangs, drugs ect.

My friend knew somebody on Fillmore and said that they just walk around the street armed with guns there.

The Fillmore Street Gangsters I believe?

And how do you know so much? Your from the West Coast right?
I lived in Buffalo for 32 years and have been gone for five (did I just reveal my age???)...not much has changed and the newspaper and internet are great ways to stay connected.

The stereotypical worst street everyone like to pick on is Box Ave. I think half the shock is just in the name of the street.

Myself and some friends once took an evening cruise down that street to relieve our seething curiosities. It was pretty scary but i've seen much worse. I officially vote....

    Wilson St.

Now THAT's damn scary. I remember riding down one particular block on Wilson and about like 70% of it was all vacant lots with 10 ft.-high jungle grass. The remaining few houses were all either boarded up or burned out.

French is as bad as Box. Wilson isn't so bad because most of it is gone. Try Detroit, or worse yet Sweet Ave.

Well I have also heard a lot of stories about Buffalo that had me a bit concerned. It ranged from frequent random shooting from gangs to a high organized crime (mafia) area. I was also told if stay out of areas I don't belong I will be just fine. I haven't been to Buffalo yet; I am coming up for a visit this coming week and will be coming up to attend UB starting in the fall. This thread among others on the site really makes me feel pretty good about my decision to come up. Basically Buffalo sounds like any big city, USA. Now my only concern is surviving the winter. It never snows here. Thanks for all the valuable information.

And they make you do it barefoot, and you have to walk a mile uphill to get to the furnace with your shovel of coal, and then you walk another mile uphill to get your next shovel of coal... it's a 2-credit course. In the summer, they make the freshmen pick cotton.

you absolutely need warm, waterproof winter boots, a parka, gloves & hat - winter survival gear -

while you're here, you have to go tubing or sledding!
