If a new stadium is going to be built do it in the city.

I think that is where it should be built if a new stadium is built. Start condensing development in the area instead of adding to more sprawl.
Seeing it's seems to be proven that stadiums do not add to the economic development of other cities maybe having all the sports arenas close to each other may make a difference.

There's one benefit I can think of from condensing sports complexes into one area, and that would be to share parking, otherwise not much.
If the new stadium includes a convention center, then there could be additional benefits.
Personally I would love to see the old convention center torn down and the street grid re-opened, but a new stadium+conv.center would likely need to shut down streets too.
Putting a stadium downtown would need to be carefully located and planned. Otherwise it will do much more damage than benefit. Some serious thought needs to go into it. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but if it's going to be executed poorly then I'd rather just keep it in Orchard Park.
Wasn't it you that used to put up maps with colored references to how a stadium downtown could work?? Or was the for the casino? Either way, there's no if; It's when it gets built. I have no doubt a new stadium is imminent

Think out of the box. Build the stadium in San Antonio or some real city instead of a run down decrepit dying backwater.
I don't remember posting something like that...
A new stadium downtown could be very exciting and I'm not dead set against it. But it has to be done in a way that actually benefits the city itself, not just the outside visitors that want to come to a game 8 times per year. There are ways to benefit both, but it's cheaper to just plunk it down where there is least resistance.

ok. Lefty posted and really good option that Artvoice had published. It's a great urban plan. But it would also be the most difficult and most expensive. I don't think NYS is seriously considering it.

Which cities have a stadium/convention center currently? How is it working out for them?

Figured Cry Baby Carl had to stick his nose into the mix since he owns property in all city stadium sites.. wait and see what he wants in tax breaks.Buffalo developer Carl Paladino owns property on all three sites outlined in the AECOM report. He says although he's in favor of a downtown stadium, the Perry Projects, which is not listed is the best option.
"Putting the site at Exchange street is too tight," Paladino said. "The Cobblestone site crowds the arena and the other activities down there, and there's not enough parking now."
$787.6 million for the Cobblestone District
$784.6 million for Exchange Street
$911.9 million for South Park
God must love stupid people; He made so many
genesee and transit where the Seneca were looking or down town Niagara falls are also good sights. convention center near the falls would work real good
