Meegan, Hart and Hanley Changing Town Board Meeting Policy

Supervisor Meeghan,Councilman Hart and Henley decided to change the Open to the Public format of the Town Board Meeting. The public no longer are allowed their 3 minutes of time to ask questions from the 3 elected officials. They decided on their own the questions being asked in the 3 minutes allowed since the first Town Board Meetings were held should be silenced. Town residents will now be required to submit on paper their question to Meeghan,Hart and Henley and wait 5 days for a response through the mail . What's. Next ! This Town Board in trying to keep the residents of West Seneca from knowing the truth or at least. having the ability to ask and receive an answer to their questions concerning town spending, operations, appointments should be available for all residents to hear

This sounds shadey. With no explanation and no warning they just deep sixed the q&a? I don't see how that can stand.

This is not a good thing. Looks like Meeghan has been spending too much time with Cuomo and its rubbing off.

they are your elected officials - its your building - stand up or shut up !

Its your Board - they are your elected officials - its your building - stand up or shut up !

Make sure the Bufnews, CNN or whoever you can notify has been informed in advance that this is going to happen.

Load the meeting with tax payers - when the Board Members start to speak - everyone in the room stands up and turn their backs on the Board.

    Then walk out - or

When the Board starts the amendment revue - stand up and say "We vote NO" - do that for every amendment. Civil Disobedience !

Its your Board - they are your elected officials - its your building - stand up or shut up !

Are you sure you are not misunderstanding what is going on?

There was no misunderstanding! Meeghan ,Hart and Henley sat silently refusing to answer questions. Meeghan repeating that the Board decided on this new policy. The problem was you could not ask the question ,who decided and if all 3 agreed without putting it on paper and waiting 5 days for your reply in the mail. God forbid you have a follow up to their answer . You would have to wait a month for the next Board meeting to write it on paper and 5 more days for their reply

First the voters reduce their representation and now if the voters do not remove those who support this policy then one can say:

"So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause." ―Padmé Amidala, to Bail Organa following the Declaration of a New Order

Or one could say - throw the bastards out. In this case the Dems voted to reduce the Board to cement the one Party rule.

"The Supervisor is elected for four-year terms.

Council Members are also elected for four-year terms, but the terms are staggered so one seat is filled by an election every two years"

Sheila M. Meegan - She was elected to the Town Board as a Democratic newcomer in the November 2007 elections. - Then elected as a Democrat to the Supervisor position.

Manley, still another Democrat, threw his hat into the ring and received the Republican endorsement. Retired after a 13-year career as a records management clerk and Webmaster for the town

This whole setup - including silencing tax payers at the meeting is brought to you by the Democratic Committee.

The Republican Committee seems ineffectual as a Party. So they too grab on to any pretense of having viable candidates. Their just part of the Political dog and Pony Show to pretend there's choice at election time.

So - its a watch what you wish for - the majority in your Town gave them the Democratic right to tell you to shut up or go away !

Hanley is the current boardmember who ran on the (D) line. Manley who ran on the (R) line was defeated.

That is part of the point - these people are nothing but recycled "Party Players" - the Dem's control everything.

Its a Dog and Pony Show

The only reason he crossed Party lines was not because his Politics changed - he needed to get back on the tax funded gravy train.

None of these people are trying to "Serve the Community" - it was inferred the down sizing of the board some how changed or reduced voter representation - no - it didn't - it just means the Dem's are still in control and tax paying residents pay less of them.

Those who voted before or were represented before the reduction - are one in the same after the reduction.

Those who are now telling taxpayers they have no voice - are the same ones who voted to reduce the Board - so bottom line its status quo.

The only difference now is if another group can put together a few hundred like minded people they could sweep the Board Clean in less than a three year cycle. Now that's term limits.

But the average taxpayer will stay home for one of two reasons - their related to someone tax funded or their Party cant break the Dem Control.

The rest who don't even bother to vote obviously agree with tax funded patronage - recycled Politicians - one Party rule.

So the voting majority are Political friends and family - and the nonvoters are sheep paying taxes

Why do you say this? He did not need to cross party lines. Hart is a (D) but he was elected on the (R) line.

From the Bee, the residents can publicly comment but not publicly question. State your case with out questioning, at least for now. get the media behind you regarding the lack of transparency factor. get "Letters to the Editor" out there for the uninformed residents to see.

    From the Bee,

Before the start of public comment, Meegan said those attending could make a comment, but if they wanted to ask a question, they would need to fill out a card with their question and give it to the board for a response in five business days.

Resident Dale Clarke, who is a former West Seneca councilman, said the action is “another way of gagging the public from getting the truth out of you people.”

Meegan said the policy would continue going forward, saying the last meeting’s public session was hostile, rude and extremely unproductive.

Aren't they all dems or the functional equivalent? They can't provide a coherent intelligent answer to any but the simplest of questions anyhow.
