What supporters of the slaughter-house fail to consider, are the
very real environmental problems generally known and associated with slaughterplants.
In Kaufman, Tx, neighbors shut down a local slaughterhouse
because not only were the smells & "slaughterhouse debris"
offensive, but the run-off of blood and manure were seeping
into the towns water-system.

I have a dump basically in my back yard on indian/broadway.
Is the area zoned for a business?
Exactly what is the procedure they slaughter this stuff? I would believe they do it in a building don't they? There are health codes that have to be followed. I don't think the animals scream and they are being killed. How is this going to effect the people around it? Traffic patterns?

This was a quote from the site, which I provided a link to, regarding the William Street slaughterhouse. It was to provide information. It was not an opinion against anything. Please re-read that post and go to the site provided. You will see it is a word for word quote.
Alrighty then!
I am pro anything that will positively impact Lackawanna. I would like more information on this type of business however.
From what I have read about it, there are negative connotations associated with a slaughterhouse. That in itself makes it unfavorable for a community already struggling to rise above it's negative reputation. Also, it was underhanded for the City to keep this a secret. It's more of the Polanski, dictatorship at work. The citizens, especially those who live in the immediate area, should have been able to voice their concerns about it.
The news showed the plan of the building last night and the "killing" area is a VERY small portion of this builing. They want to have a freshfood market, which we need a lot more of, and a lot of other retail area.

Dumbest post ever! Thanks for the laugh PO!
My question is how was DiCenso's on the corner of Brown St. and So.Park able to operate for years while I was a kid without any problems or complaints? Great fresh poultry with no problems. Maybe you need to be of the right ancestry to have a place like this open in Lackawanna.
BTW if this place will have fresh goat I'm more than willing to stop by for some and give it a try. I hunt and fish, eat what I take and have no problem trying this. You guys need to watch a little Anthony Bourdain!
