Are you sure that it will be a "public" work session??

How long have you been in Lackawanna? I know you have lived here long enough to know better.

I agree! But it doesn't always work that way in City Hall. If they wanted public input, they would have done that from the beginning!!

You got it! Andrea always wants to keep the public informed with these types of meetings and it NEVER happens. Get a couple of "connected" people asking and BAM....it happens!!

    Thumbs down Am-Pol Eagle

    FYI Folks,
Goggle the Am-Pol Eagle newspaper and go to WNY News------"Polanski Welcomes Butcher Shop in Lackawanna!" The article has a few differences from what we were originally told by Ralph the acting Director of Development for the City of Lackawanna. They are:
*that the killing-animals waiting to be slaughter area was only 10% of their operation now it is 20%
*that they were going to bring appr. 25 jobs---now the jobs are 35-38+.
*the operation went from being a store to a supermarket now
*he is calling the operation a butcher shop to play down the killing horror

I realize the scope of projects can change as it comes to fruition, but I can read through the feathers and feces and know they are "beefing" up the job enticement.
Playing off the backs of the poor people really makes me sick!
Would Orchard Park put up with the slaughtering of animals on their main drag? We all know the answer.

All of the above is one of the many reasons polanski and company want me and my allies out of the way, so they can sneak smelly undesirable businesses like this into OUR First Ward.

I read the article. The part I like is how he relies on David Francyk for input rather than checking up on the operation in Brooklyn himself. Really wouldn't you think if your going to show up at a place like this you would make a surprise visit rather than an appointment to see it. Im sure Dave gave them a couple weeks notice.By the way if it was so clean how come it isn't in Buffalo. Also check out Buffalo News page D2 about Lardon Construction off Martin Rd. in Blasdell another thing city hall wants to bring here. I don't really have a problem with the "supermarket" yet it's enclosed. I work on Martin Rd. in Blasdell and when the wind picks up you get dirt all over the place blowing off the piles of crap they have there. Look for yourself go down South Park to Milestrip make a right look over side of overpass past Martin Exit not pretty. It's not a great location the city has picked out for this kind of operation. Why do we always get somebody elses problems? A few years back I talked to 2 council members about relocating Fisher Bus Service here whom I used to work for they showed no interest whatsoever.Would have been better than this Lardon thing.

    Angry Meet your Meat

Had a lengthy conversation this morning with a lady who owns a chicken farm and knows the business inside out, they slaughter once a week, have a company that picks up the guts and feathers and they spread the poo out as manure.
Came across a very old Lackawanna Leader article which told about 6 men who were arrested for having pig stiles in the City of Lackawanna limits. Judge McCann fined them for violating Public Health laws violating our sewar system. Also goats in houses and yards were outlawed in 1936.
Ironically, the citizen concerns 70 years ago about harboring and killing animals are the same ones many of us have today, even with all the modern technology available today.
Call me a NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard), I/WE don't care----we live here and do not trust the government because of human failure and cut-backs that cause job stress.
A slaughter house that kills live animals daily right on our main thoroughfare, our children deserve a greater legacy than this!
Steel City becomes Squeal City-----real nice for our kids.

I think the mean not to raise like a goat or pig in a small back yard. The butcher isn't going to raise the animals. He's going to have a truck stop down with a few animals... escort them into a holding pen for a short time and then turn them into burgers and stuff. How many animals does anyone think they would butcher a day?
