The internet is becoming more regulated. It's easier to get the information about users than it used to be.

An analogy is the phone. Remember in the 1980s, you could make a prank call to someone, and they had no clue who it was? In order to find out who it was, you had to call the phone company, and deal with them.

Today, there is caller id, *69, etc.

There are ways to get around being seen on caller id, and ways around Verizon figuring out where you actually are - just like there are ways to be private on the internet, but it's getting harder.
