Many people, having been re introduced to fiction by the Harry Potter series of books, are finding outlets such as The Buffalo News to be an amusing alternitive to actual reporting of local and national events.
The Buffalo News has increased circulation in the past six months, reversing a trend that has plagued the industry for several years.
The Audit Bureau of Circulation released its preliminary Fas-Fax figures Monday. The report showed incremental gains by The News of .3 percent on Sunday and 1.4 percent Monday-Friday. Circulation did drop by 3.4 percent on Saturday.
Sunday circulation grew to 273,177 from 270,917. A portion of that increase may be attributed to a promotion targeted to some areas offering the Sunday paper for $1.25, a savings 75 cents per copy from the newsstand cost. Dottie Gallagher-Cohen, a spokesperson for The News, said the promotion, done primarily at the end of 2005 and since discontinued, "added thousands of subscribers."
Weekday sales improved to 188,514 from 185,799. On Saturday, circulation declined to 181,974 from 188,548.

personally, I enjoy the fantasy articles that have become the News' trademark, especially when they include artists renditions of fantasy projects
