    Bill O'Reilly. Genius.

In trying to explain why the Canadian Health Care system is worse than the Obama proposed Health Care system, even though the fact is that Canada has a longer life expectancy said the following:

"Of course Canada has longer life expectancy than the U.S. -- we have 10 times more people." - Bill O'Reilly
Does that make any sense at all????

Even with FACTS, Conservatives will spin what they hear, and try to put down a better health care system.

I heard this from a Canadian:

As a Canadian that's been to the USA on numerous occasions I'm gonna have to agree. There was always a joke that if you got injured in the states hide it until you get back to Canada.

How come fox keeps leaving out the fact that if you get treatment for something in canada, which is very rare, then canada will pay all expenses to get that treatment in the states.

Also they keep leaving out that healthcare is different from providence to providence.

Seems to me foxy journalism is at it again with their hearst like tactics of telling half truths. I keep saying this but murdoch is our generations citizen kane.

    Ummm... A Canadian.

You think that out of the 33+ million Canadians, that it's impossible for even one to like their health care system?

Here's a link inside Canada about them defending their health care:

Here is the article in full form, so you can read it here:

    The real story
Here are the facts as to why Canada’s medical system, far from perfect, is dramatically better than America’s:
    1. It is cheaper even though it takes care of the entire population, or 10% of GDP compared with 15% in the U.S.
    2. Canada’s health care system which fully looks after 32 million people costs roughly what the private-sector health insurance companies make in profits in the United States looking after less than half the population for excessive premiums.
    3. Canada’s health care system is cheaper still if the litigation costs of fighting over medical bills is eliminated as it is when the government is the sole-insurer. Estimates are that court costs and judgments add another 2 to 3% of GDP to the total medical tab.
    4. Canada’s health care system enhances economic productivity. Workers diagnosed with illnesses can still change employers and be employable because they are not rejected by employers with health benefits due to pre-conditions.
    5. Infant mortality is much lower in Canada and Europe than in the U.S.
    6. Outcomes with major illnesses, such as cancer and heart disease, are better than in the United States.
    7. Longevity is better in Canada and Europe than in the U.S.
    8. No emergency is neglected in Canada.
    9. Some elective procedures may take longer if compared to blue-ribbon U.S. health care but that’s no comparing apples with apples. More appropriately, the overall population’s care should be compared and there are tens of millions of Americans who are uninsured or uninsurable.
    10. No one in Canada goes broke because of medical bills whereas ARP estimates half of personal bankruptcies are due to unpaid, high medical bills.
    11. Canadians are able to choose their own physicians and to seek multiple opinions.
    12. Canadian doctors and nurses are better trained than American counterparts and U.S. physicians must study for at least a year in order to qualify to practice in Canada.
    13. Drugs made and invented in the United States are cheaper in Canada, Europe and Japan because our communal health care means volume discounts and savings passed along to society. Americans are overpaying.
    14. Americans are being cheated by a patchwork quilt system where the highest risk people – veterans, the indigent and elderly – are insured by governments but the “gravy” or young, healthy people are handed over to private insurance companies.

(Oh, I bolded one you keep lying about, truthdetector.)

And here is published information from The Health Council of Canada....

The Health Council of Canada recently published a report in which they reiterated Canada’s universal, publicly funded health care system is widely viewed as an essential part of a social safety net and a reflection of Canadians’ core values. But they also found that the cost of the system is a constant concern, and many fear that public health care is unsustainable.

Negative discussion about health care in Canada tends to focus on a persistent set of problems: access, wait times, and shortages of health care providers. This has been the case in times of good economy and during economic crisis.

The 10th annual Health Care in Canada survey confirms that wait times and the shortage of doctors top the list pf concerns voiced by Canadians in 2008. Other issues of concern were timeliness and access to care and environmental health issues such as air and water pollution.

In 2004 the federal government and all the provincial governments entered into a 10 year plan to achieve significant reductions in wait times for 5 priority areas:

    Cancer
    Heart
    Diagnostic imaging
    Joint replacement
    Sight restoration (cataract surgery)

By 2007, despite government promises and billions of dollars funneled into the Canadian health-care system, "the average patient waited more than 18 weeks between seeing their family doctor and receiving the surgery or treatment they required.

Sounds like one hell of a program Obama wants us to accept!

This is exactly the same problem we have in America with privatized health care. Many people are giving it up, because of the high cost.

This is comparing Apples and Oranges. The entire United States does not have health care.

You can wait and you WILL get Health Care in Canada. Is that the same for America? No. You need money.

Talk about something you know about, truthdetector. You look stupid.

truth , he has no source , it's propaganda from the Canadian Health System itself , just as if our Congress told us what a great job they're doing............Canadians still come here for procedures (those who can afford to) as it takes months to get the same treatment there............our system is not perfect , but has to remain private , the gov't is regulating & taking over too much & they've already proved they can't handle anything with success , they can "skim" $$$ off the top though via your pockets though , that they're good at.........

    A) More Americans have health care than Canadians
    B) You don't need money. A hospital can not refuse service
    C) Pot/Kettle

I think , IMHO that Canadians ARE healthier then Americans because there's less stress , hey , they have the USA to protect them , they just sit back & watch us try & save the world & them along with the world.............PLUS , they are over-taxed also , but they don't have to produce........More Canadians migrate here then Americans going there , more Canadians work here , then us working there.......etc. , etc. ..............

Here is some REAL info about Brandons' source quoted above.

The article Brandon quoted is a blog editorial by Diane Francis, Editor at Large for the National Post. the majority of her blog editorials are based on greed, US politics and dysfunction. Credible and unbiased source there Brandon. The statements that you are hanging your hat on are her opinion! The statements that she made have been questioned by her own followers as unsubstantiated...... Brandon, you really need to stick to matters that you understand.... please start the new thread "Does Cookie Monster Really Need Another Cookie?" Moron.
