Lancaster to memorialize support of West Valley nuclear waste site cleanup

Like many other municipalities, the Town of Lancaster will approve a resolution “supporting cleanup standards that are at least as protective as current state radiation standards and unrestricted use toxic standards, and are fully protective of vulnerable populations, including children, fish, wildlife and water.”

Thumbs down When does Lancaster protect its own

I believe this memorializing about West Valley is a good move.

But considering the fact that our local Town Board has helped destroy wetlands, fill and build on anything they can get away with!?

They approve the bulldozing of wild and rare bird nesting areas. Plant a sewer line along the banks of a "Federally Protected" creek. A sewer line which will be subject to freeze and thaw ground shifting.

They create "Pollution time bombs" known as "Retention Ponds" - man-made lakes or personal ponds as Realtors like to call them. These basins are nothing more than mini-chemical dumps!

But what the heck - "Memorializing" someone else's efforts or laws is a good thing: Pre-Election Campaign literature move. Now they can tell everyone they are all for protecting the environment - as long as it doesn't stop the bulldozers in Lancaster!

    Slick!
