Two men have been taken into custody for the shootings of three people last Saturday night near St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church at Townsend and Peckham streets.

Ferry-Fillmore District officers arrested Dennis A. Triplett, 38, of Buffalo about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Then, just before 10 p.m. Friday, they arrested Ricky M. Grace, 40, of Niagara Falls.

Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards would not disclosed where the two suspects were arrested but he congratulated Detective Marvin V. Sanford and Officer Robert E. Lee and David K. Daniels for the arrest of Triplett and Officers William Hoffstetter and Jason Schneider for Grace’s capture.

Both suspects are being held on three counts of attempted murder and criminal possession and criminal use of a weapon.

Two of the shooting victims. Jovanna Davis, 19, and Charles Washington, 24, have been released from Erie County Medical Center but the third victim, Brandon Washington, remains in serious condition at ECMC with a gunshot wound to the mouth.

Police said Davis was sitting in her car in front of 67 Townsend when the shooting took place about 10:10 p.m. Saturday. She was shot in the left arm and that bullet lodged in her chest. Charles Washington was shot in the neck, back and buttocks and was found lying on his stomach in the street at 57 Townsend. Richards said Brandon Washington ran for help to a nearby house after being shot and was helped by a neighborhood woman until police and an ambulance arrived.

Police believe the two suspects drove away after the shootings in a black minivan.
