We don't even know what the cost will be since the school systems are not funding the retierment programs. I say fire half the teachers. There are a lot less students than there were 30 years ago in this state, why are there more teachers
I think these whores need to shut their Pie holes.Tell us D bags what is their fair share? Kind of looks like you got plenty of money.
Teacher's Union Ad Campaign: Wealthy Must Pay 'Fair Share'

ALBANY—Another of the state's well-funded unions is hitting the air with a budget ad, one that is less personally directed at David Paterson than ads released last week by health care advocates.
But the spot does make a push for the so-called "millionaire's tax," which Paterson has not clearly supported.
New York State United Teachers released the below spot today, and will air it on television, radio and in movie theaters. The union is spending $1.5 million on the ads.
Paterson's proposed budget called for nearly $2 billion in cuts to education programs.

I agree but the half that are fired should the tenured ones who don't care and people don't play dumb their are ALOT OF THEM!!! Plus have them start paying for health care!
Or better yet, have parents who have kids in school pay and extra $500 a year per kid while their in school, this would help with the extra costs of aids for the class rooms and busses!

Dumbest post ever! Thanks for the laugh PO!
I listened to this ad today. What the Heck, teachers make more than the average person in NYS. They should be paying at a higher rate as they make more money than most of the rest of us. They always have ads that are misleading.
**free is a trademark of the current U.S. government.
not to mention they only work 185 days a year plus they get sick and personal days too! MOST of us work 250 days a year with 2 to 4 weeks of vacation!
So realistically if a teacher get paid 34K a year (plus all the benni's) they are realistically making $45K a year and that's just to start i know teachers who make 6 figures and aren't even DEPT heads!

I posted this in another thread but it seems relevant here too....
An interesting thing to consider..........
All of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres fall into the "millionaires" category. They all currently pay 8% state income taxes and soon, maybe a lot more. When you consider that Miami Dolphins, TB Lightning or Florida Panthers pay NO income tax, this in essence means that the Florida teams have a salary cap 8% higher than our teams because their players pay no state income taxes.
In the absence of a major tax revolt, it looks like a super bowl or Stanley cup championship isn't likely here.
Government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem. Ronald Reagan
