The planning committee of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library system has identified two dozen branches that are expected to close next year as the system tries to trim $6 million from its 2006 budget.

Branches identified to close are:

Angola
Blasdell
Boston
Brighton, Town of Tonawanda
Cazenovia, South Buffalo
N. Cheektowaga
S. Cheektowaga
Depew
East Clinton, Kaisertown district, Buffalo
Eden
Fairfield, North Buffalo
Greenhaven, Town of Tonawanda
Lake Shore
Kenilworth, Town of Tonawanda
Kensington, East Buffalo
Marilla
Martin Luther King, Buffalo's East Side
Mead, Lovejoy district, Buffalo
North Collins
North Park, North Buffalo

Actually it's $5,832,923 a 19% reduction from the 2005 budget.

They need over $3 million to cover unemployment & retirement.

Closing all of these libraries would bring the B&ECPL below the quailifcations of hours to receive state aid. They will lose $2,099,228 from NYS.

The savings is a fraud, the residents are going to be paying more in taxes for less services, less libraries, and more money will be sent to the County for Giambra to waste.

He is violating the Library Protection Act, and the B&ECPL is letting him.
