didn't Buffalo have a police academy or auxilary police unit?
I thought they did,
I know a lot of people that went through it (amherst) and they highly recommend it.
With all of the talk on this board lately about the Amherst Police, I thought I'd post the link here on who to contact if you are interested in joining the spring Citizen Police Academy. From what I hear, it's a great program run by very friendly officers. You get a good insight into your town's PD and get demos from the K-9 unit and the SWAT team. You also get to do a ride along with an officer at the end of the program. From what I hear it really is a blast!

As an alumnus of the very first Citizen's Police Academy (It was in 1991, I think) I recommend it highly.
By the way, I picked a Friday night for my ride-along and I'd recommend that night too -- especially if it's a full moon.

It was 1996. My ride-along was also on a Friday night and was interesting; went to a domestic (drove about 100 mph down Maple on the wrong side of the road!) and to a party where a guest appeared to have had a heart attack. Kind of awkward standing in people's homes with the cops - got a lot of "Who are you?" and "Why are you here?" looks.
It's a GREAT program. If the Satish could keep his mouth shut and pay attention he might learn something from the experience....nah, nevermind!
Happy New Year!!
One of my cousins went through some kind of Amherst Police citizen training program which lasted three months or so;A volunteer citizen community program which my cousin thinks is great; He has very limited law enforcement powers, but HAS been trained by the APD, mah good, good friends!
Coincidence is the word we use when we can't see the levers and pulleys.

Maybe you should go thruogh that progrma DF?
I actually gave it a thought....But i got enuff crap in my life right now
I, also, went through the Buffalo Citizen's Academy. I'm not sure of the year but it was in the late 90's. It was a 10 week course and I loved it. As a block club leader at that time it really gave an insight of the department. The ride around was the best and I saw some action that night too. I have a whole lot of respect for the hard working men and women of the force. Yes of course there are a few lousy ones but by and far the majority are top notch in my book.
Anyone that has the opportunity to go for such a course should go. Politicians especially!!!!
My music is the expression of my soul. If my song is censored, I'll sing it loud somewhere else.
The Cheektowaga Police have a citizen's academy starting Feb. 17th.

If it weren't for the United States Military, there would be NO United States of America !
