THis was in Biz FirstBill would increase top N.Y. judges' salaries 18.6%
If the state Legislature goes along with legislation proposed by the governor, New York judges will have their first raise in six years.
Gov. George Pataki has submitted a bill asking lawmakers to boost the salaries of State Supreme Court justices to $162,100 from the current salary of $136,700, putting those positions on the same scale as federal judges.
Trial judges would also be in line for an 18.6 percent increase while appellate judges would have their pay hiked by just under 17 percent.
