I soooooo agree!
The key to opening the door is right in our own local laws of OUR Municipal Code/Charter...........
If we hold ALL elected officials ACCOUNTABLE to OUR own written LAWS , then and only then , through education and communication...........the politicians will serve the people. The way it should be.....instead of serving themselves and their cronies!
We can start by pushing for ALL of the CITIZEN ADVISORY Committees/Boards mandated by our fore-fathers in OUR Charter/Code to be filled asap. It is a start, and through their wishes/goals for LA, the majority of Citizens vision will be fulfilled for the betterment of Lackawanna!
ie.
CHAPTER 11 Parks and Recreation (§ 11.1 — § 11.4)
§ 11.1 Department.
§ 11.2 Advisory Committee; program.
The Mayor shall appoint a Citizen's Advisory Committee on Parks and Recreation to advise and consult with the Director of Parks and Recreation. With the aid and assistance of the Committee, the Director shall plan and develop recreational activities, promote and direct an all year program of cultural and recreational activities for children, youth and adults; provide for the optimum coordination and development of public and private recreational facilities and programs.
It will take time......and we can agree to disagree on the nuts and bolts......but, again, the key was given to us by those who came before us. It is up to us to take a stand ....pick up the key....and unlock the door that has been slammed shut on LA for decades!
Looks like they did a good job fixing up the playgrounds - http://www.buffalonews.com/city-regi...tions-20130825
